BX2370 twisty frame?

Tell me if this is common or not (it's going to the dealer, they said it isn't right). If I happen to go where the 2 rear wheels and only 1 front wheel is on the ground the hood shows that the frame or something is obviously twisting a little bit. Kubota is all secretive about torque specs, even the dealer wouldn't tell me. I had a rear wheel off exposing some large frame bolts and some had less than 90 ft lbs. I left them as is.

Now I say that about the hood getting cockeyed and that's with only a MMM on it. Put the rear ballast and the loader and yikes! In fact the one rear fender has an obvious bend/bow and at first I figured I must have backed into something, but pushing on the rear of the fender doesn't affect this bend in the fender at all. Just really curious if anyone has seen anything like this?

Doesn't sound right to me, and I have a front off the ground all the time.

I mow a ditch. Exiting it in 4WD, I can have right front a foot in the air for a second. Never noticed any twists, etc.

Figures I'd get one where they didn't torque important bolts. Oh, also when on a slope with the right side downhill, the engine transmits a lot of vibration to the tractor. It does it with the pto on or off. I'll be darned if I can find where it's coming from. Maybe it's all the same problem?

Part of my down payment for this tractor was from a full refund for a "lemon" Husqvarna supposed garden tractor. After 3 + years they still couldn't fix a few problems it had and finally agreed to refund my money in full including 9.75% sales tax. I hope the lemon money didn't get me another lemon. :(

One more thing, is it normal for the tractor to shake almost violently when turning off the engine? I lower it to idle for a little while then turn it off.

I wouldn't consider it unusual. The little BX's are just big lawn mowers, with frame rails like a car, so yes, I would expect some twist to happen if it's placed in the right conditions.

lugbolt if you think the BX is just a lawn mower you might want to do a little more research before making such a statement.
Thats like saying a 70 Hemi Cuda is just another car, it aint so.
While most will spend their lives mowing grass, they re a work horse, admittedly smaller than their brothers, but a work horse none the less.
And pound for pound will stand up against anything else in their class and come out on top.

I have a 55 chevy with a real frame and it is many many times lighter than the BX frame. I doubt there was EVER a car made with a frame as heavy as in a BX. Look before you leap.

It sounds like a box of rocks when shutting down.
My freinds L does the same.

A bx is a (SCUT) "small compact utility tractor"

It is not a strong as Mary Anne The steam shovel but It does the work of ten+ men!

Cold Idle

I've already taken this thread in a new course so one more engine question. When first started it knocks "like a diesel" at idle but gets pretty quiet at 2000rpm. Actually the manual says to give it a little throttle before starting it. This rattling when cold goes away when warmed up. Is that also common/normal?

You`re overthinking everything way to much. Stop worrying. Idling is never going to hurt that kubota engine. As for the engine shaking when shutting the tractor off, forget about it, its what all diesels do. Its very high engine compression that causes it. Welcome to the diesel world.

Hmmm.... like that. I tried some weather stripping, helped, but not much.

His cold start at 5 degrees is tough. I did find Rotella T6 5-40 helped there, and my garage is seldom below freezing, but can get to 20 on a real cold snap (-15 F or so)

I have a 25 foot roll, so why not?!?

C-clamp for pulling ears in, and a shot of fluid film, tubing slides on with some help.

You can see the weather stripping I did a couple years ago. That didn't do much.
