How many of you use steering wheel spinners on your tractor(s)?

Hokie in post #6 in the photo, the spinner looks like it is on the wheel. But the spokes look very big. Maybe the spinner would not fit onto the spoke. I just ordered a Kubota one($$$) now I read the Kubota one is junk. But my question is whats the issue with clamping it to the wheel if it won't fit the spoke ??
The reason it was called a suicide knob is because many placed it on the OUTSIDE ring of the wheel - when cornering (tractor or car) the wheel could spin back quickly and get your hand/wrist etc..... by placing on the spoke and using the hand on the outside of the wheel - problem is eliminated.

On my tractors......I'd say the fastest I am turning is going to be about 3 mph, the spinning rate of my steering wheel is not going to do much, I will tell you - hitting a root or dip in the front end, will tell the hand to hold on tight!

That is not my spinner in #6 - here is mine - an Amazon product :
https://www.amazon.com/WSV125OR-Sha...5022390&sr=8-6&keywords=tractor+wheel+spinner

problem #1 - the bolts are not long enough! IT will NOT fit on the spokes!

SO - you need a pair of longer bolts and a little shim material - I used a piece of hard rubber so not to damage the wide spoke on the wheel, I think I had to bang the backing plate a bit too!:)

I always thought is was called a suicide knob because in case of a collision it may be what your chest smacks hard (in a motor vehicle).

I have never had a steering wheel on a tractor ever spin out of control in a turn, or hitting a hole, plow furrow or anything else. Just fortunate I guess.

May be a difference in design. My L3000 has power steering but not hydrostatic. Steering wheel doesn't drift around on it at all.

Yepper L3000 has power assist steering which is nothing similar to hydrostatic steering

I got my spinner yesterday. I'll install today. I rarely leave my tractor out at night. I have a three sided carport thing I built under my tall side deck on the house. Steel roofing , clear roofing sides, but if I leave my tractor outside I flip up the seat. I think the seat will hit the spinner and it won't flip onto the steering wheel. But I'll know today.

The spokes on my steering wheel are to thick to mount the Kubota spinner. It would just barely mount on the wheel itself. But I got the screws to start by two threads on each nut then tightened it down. I mounted it at the 7or 8 oclock position. The seat will flip by it onto the wheel.
I did get new blades for my land pride rotary cutter a month ago. I still haven't got to change thoses. But will soon.

For those looking to purchase the Kubota "deluxe" version, I just noticed yesterday that TSC has the exact same spinner w/o the Kubota name on the face for about $5 cheaper than anywhere else I looked.

I've found that backing up is much easier with the spinner - especially when connecting implements. Without using it sometimes have to reposition a few times before lining up correctly. With the spinner I can be more exact.
Couldn't agree more. And as someone else said, if you have a lot of backing up and moving forward a lot. I love mine and can't imagine being without it. I don't use it exclusively, but as mentioned above, it makes those instances much easier to operate.

Orange rubbery-covered knob on the Kubota with power steering, aluminum on the Ford without power steering. Never had any issues with the Kubota but I have been whacked a few times with the knob on the Ford in the 25 years I've had it. I've used a few tractors without knobs and was glad to get off them.

mine had a spinner on it when it was delivered. I use it more than I expected. It's nice when using the FEL. One hand on the spinner an the other on the FEL control stick.

Will have to tell the dealer it needs to be on the 23s or no deal. Can see where it would be nice.
