Oops..dad mistakenly took pto lever for tranny lever

My dad helped me with yard work and was using my b2320 and wanted to shift from low to medium but used the pto lever and of course the gears grinded.
Should I be worried he damaged anything!? Everything seems fine.

I guess it has happened with you a few times!?
I just hate the sounds of grinding gears
I'm always worried it causes internal damage

Especially these machines aren't cheap

On my 53 ford....I would have to grind a gear or 2 - that was a non synchronized tranny too! Had to be stopped to switch!

While not a pleasant sound, or something that should happen frequently, the gears are tough and can take some abuse. I'd be more worried if he jammed it into gear, versus grinding some. Be sure to educate him (I imagine that you did), and don't fret. It should be fine.

Ya it's not a pleasant sound for sure!
I hope to god he didn't pop it in! When I heard the grinding I ran over to see what he was doing!

I've used the pto a few times since and it seems ok but maybe it would break down the road!?

Been there. Went to drop the 3pt and shifted it into neutral instead. No gear grinding but man that thing took off like a rocket down the hill before my brain figured out what was happening and I hit the brake.

My Dad has been using our L1500Dt up big time. Somewhere along the line someone put aftermarket stickers on the grey girl that are backwards on the 4x4 lever and the high/ low range.

My bride says I'm an arsehole cusse I laugh every time he is spinning out or doing a wheelie down the driveway?

These tractors seem to be built strong but you never know with human error

Had a 38 chev P\U with "crash box"...got pretty good at double clutching. Took a while when I got in a new vehicle to not double clutch
