I'm considering getting one of these to maintain my gravel driveway:

http://www.everythingattachments.co...-Scarifier-Rippers-p/eta-land-leveler-ws-.htm

My driveway is about 15' wide and I have a L3901. Which size leveler would the L3901 be able to handle well? I was thinking that the 5' model would be a good choice?
I pull a 6' LMC land leveler with My L3901 HST.. I pull it in 2WD up and down hills and never have any trouble. Even with the scarifies down I never have traction trouble with R-4 tires. I feel like I could go to a 7' or maybe even a 8' without trouble.

I've been pleased using this:

My 800' driveway is recycled asphalt millings and I understand its much like crusher run gravel. When angled the teeth line up to form a "blade" like implement permitting me to maintain my crown. While I'd love a landplane for other uses I wasn't sure how to retain the center crown.

It will somewhat naturally maintain a crown.

But you can also manipulate it by adjusting the 3 point arms so the outside edge arm is lower than the inside.

Called Everything Attachments and they pretty much agree with your findings. They said get a 6' or 7' and the L3901 won't have any problems pulling it. Went ahead and ordered a 6 footer. Thanks for the insight.

And everyone, thank you very much for your input!!

You should be able to pull a 7' easy. I built a 54" land plane and put a 55 gal barrel on it for weight. It probably weighs 7-800 lbs and does a super job. I have about 3-$350 in it. A land plane works much better than a box blade for maintenance, box blade moves material from one place to another.

I highly recommend building it yourself. Two cutting edges, some pins. some salvage metal and off you go.

How is the land plane at dealing with hills in the driveway? I have a considerable change in grade part way down the drive and then it levels out again beyond that.

I suppose it depends on the severity of the grade change. They don't ride on the cutting edges like a box scraper does unless you have then adjusted down. My drive has a couple decent grade changes and it wasn't an issue.

My driveway is pretty much flat. It has a small hill to climb going out of it but it's a very small one. My dealer has a 96" one but I don't want to buy it and try to make it cut and my tires just spin

45 horse and 4 wheel drive. I think you'll be OK.

I was skeptical about my 26 horse tractor pulling the 72" and my dealer said if it's to big they'll let me exchange for a 60"

See if they have a demo unit.
