My buddy has a renovation rule:

"First you figure out how long it's going to take and the cost, then you double it and add a day"!
I can agree with that rule, might be more than double but close.

Got the base cabinets in :D Got lucky and my neighbor was home. Had to borrow his table saw to cut down a filler piece.

Got one counter installed as well as the sink hooked up and plumbed. Ran into one snag though

The water lines attached to the faucet were too short. Gotta pick up extensions and then I'll be able to check for leaks :D

My dishwasher had the controls on top of door. In new spot with new countertop the control panel was covered. Read manual about 5 times before i found one little sentence. About turning on with door open.

Frustrating.

You're making good progress

Getting closer :D got the doors mounted back on the cabinets :D back splash just needs grout tomorrow morning :)

Now we had sticker shock on cabinet hardware. New knobs and hinges were gonna be $250

We came up with a $20 solution. We soaked them over night in paint remover.

Then I cleaned them up with a wire brush in a die grinder. Then hit them with some rustoleum hammered finish paint :D

Hardware looks brand new. We just have to go back with a q-tip and paint the screw heads to match :D

Wood is in for the beams :D just gotta hit all the screw holes with putty. Sand it in the morning. Then we can stain and poly tomorrow. Grout Tuesday. Then we can install the bar top

Added a sill also between the kitchen and dining room also.

Woo Hoo!!

You're getting there.

I really like the Pine post, beams and counter. My education is Forestry - - I'm a fan of wood.

I have a whole bag of practically new knobs and pulls I took off our old kitchen before I pulled the cabinets.

I remembered how much they cost new!:eek:

Hell, I woulda shipped them to you!!:D

Here's some more wood for you :D breakfast bar needed something to keep the grand kiddos from putting holes through the drywall on the knee wall :D

Went with some t & g chair rail and continued it around the island :D gotta run back to town for one more pack. Had a piece that was bad in the middle of a pack. So I'm 1 piece short

Thanks for the offer on the knobs. But we are really happy with how we refurbished the ones we had :D

Still got a bunch of sanding to do. But here's the progress so far.

Stain on the t&g is the min wax early American 230. Beams are gonna be stained a dark walnut :D

Here's the mini bar between the kitchen and dining room.

And here's the back splash with the grout in it :D

My wife and mother in law did a great job on the back splash :D

Oh wait..... We did get one light in so far. My wife wanted to learn how to do it so I walked her through how to install the light over the sink :D

Got all the lights installed except the dining room. Gotta get the boss to settle on a location so I can mount the hook for the chandelier :)

Main light in the kitchen is dimmer then I would like. But a quick change of the bulbs should take care of that :D
