I have a good friend who was stung by the tractor bug. After a (used) green story that went horribly wrong, he is about to buy Orange (new) machine.

In the B series there are the B50 series which have DPF and the 01 (B2301 and B2601) which do not. Apparently the salesman told him that the B2601 is actually just the detuned version of the old B2910 motor....rock solid and no computer or DPF garbage to cause issues.

Anyone hear the same?

Here are the specs I've found:
B2910
http://www.kubotaengine.com/products/engines/vertical-diesel/kubota-05-series/v1505-e4b

B2601
http://www.kubotaengine.com/products/engines/vertical-diesel/kubota-05-series/d1105-e4b

The bore and stroke is the same on both, 78mm..however displacement is different on the higher hp machine...so it must be cam timing? I thought bore and stroke determined your displacement....

Ah...duh...one's a 3cyl and ones a 4cyl...chop off 1 cyl and drop hp from 30 to 26...very interesting...

Old Kubota was making 7.5hp per cylinder, new is 8.66hp.

In other words 20hp per L before and now 23hp per L...pretty significant improvement...

Im getting ready to buy a 2601 tomorrow and when you said this, i thought , hell, ill buy the 2650 then. but here it is from kubotas website

The B50 series diesel engines are built for greater
power with cleaner emissions. The B3350's
liquid-cooled E-TVCS (Emissions - Three
Vortex Combustion System) engine delivers
increased power and high torque for all the
tractor strength you need, while significantly
lowering emissions. The Diesel Particulate Filter
(DPF) Muffler reduces emissions to make it
compliant with the latest Tier 4 Final emission
regulation.

Which brings up another question that probably no one is going to know the answer to considering the newness of the tier 4 crap.

Can the DPF be bypassed with some tubing and a TIG/MIG fab up ?
Do these tier 4 engines have a ECM running them that will shut the engine down if it does not see the DPF ?

Are there O2 sensors on the system ?

I suspect that bypassing the DPF ( if it fails and would cost $$$$$$$$$ to replace ) would void the 6 year power train warranty.
AND, i verified with more than one dealer, that if the DPF fails, it IS NOT covered under the 6 year power train warranty

I see a future mod for these engines with a flash programmer and a DPF delete. These DPF's are going to cost a TON when or if they fail.
Just like my GMC 2500HD DURAMAX. as soon as its out of warranty, that crap is outta here including the urea injections system. ITS ALL CRAP

Any thoughts ?

wait, its only a 25hp engine. it needs no DPF.
I'm officially confused and i suspect you are exactly right on no DPF

Well, it is a 26hp engine. And I think :D the threshold for DPF, or other exhaust treatments, is 26hp.

No DPF on B2650 is correct! There is no EGR, DPF or DEF requirements 27 HP and below. But I am sure that the EPA has it's way, it will be on the lower horses soon! And wait...... you will have to hook your own keister to one so you won't be polluting.;):eek:

Correct......I have a B2650 cab model and it is non DPF. The 33hp B3350 is DPF. As far as I Know, the B2601 is the plain jane version of the B2650...same engine.

Can you please elaborate what the differences are between the 2650 and the 2601?

A dealer said that same kind of thing " its an upgraded 2601"
When i asked what that was he said " cruise control and tilt wheel"
I said " wait, the 2601 has that i just got off one today "

Now that dealer is confused. I can personally guarantee you that the 2601 has tilt and cruise.

Can you please tell me any other differences ? Is it a bigger tractor ? Does it have rear hydro lines already installed ?
Im trying to figure out the extra cost. I know it has a bigger loader.
The reason I'm asking is i was going to take a 45 min ride to see a 2650 tomorrow after going to talk to the dealer local that has a 2601.

It appears after studying them side by side the 2650 is about 8.5" wider, 8.5 " longer and 200 lbs heavier . It also has a bigger loader by about 200lbs lift at the pin and a little bigger volume pump to accommodate the bigger loader.
Its also has a digital dash and the 2601 is analog.
thats the differences i see that cost about 2K more than the 2601.

The B3350 is the evil twin of the B2650. The B3350 is 33hp vs 26hp for the B2650. The B2650 does not have the DPF (26hp and under being exempt). The B3350 seems to have gained a bad reputation for the way Kubota implemented the emission controls.
