HELP!
Today, I took my new rear tires & old B7100 rims in to be mounted- after a long time, the manager told me they could not mount the tires on my "oddball" rims. He showed me that the recess on the new tire for the bead to seat is about 3/4"; the lip on the rim is about 1". The bead would not seat on the rim, it was actually trying to seat on the writing on the side of the tire. He brought out a new 16x6 truck rim & the new tire popped right on & sealed- the lip was 3/4".
I went home & compared the new tires with the old tires & sure enough, there is a 1/4"+ difference in the bead recess. So, apparently, I have odd rims- one guy said non-US rims used to have a taller lip.
I can buy aftermarket replacement rims (expensive), but it appears they are different enough that my wheel weights will not bolt up. All the tires I have checked have the smaller recess, so changing tires is no help.
Any ideas, or inspirations... hell, at this point I'll even settle for a smart a$$ remark- I need a good laugh.
