After doing my 50 hour service, I changed the trans fluid in the back and also the front.

I had thought I might have seen a drip on the front once or twice before but wasnt sure.

But when i went to go check the front before draining it - it was low. Now that I changed it and filled it to the proper level I can easily see the leak. Only the right side (passenger) is leaking

Won't leak just sitting there - but if I run the tractor for a few mins (doesn't even have to be moving around it will start to drip out.

I let it run for 5 mins - shut it off and popped the check level cap to see if any pressure was building up but no pop or anything. So must be a bad seal -- or?

I'm a mechanic my entire life but not a tractor mechanic :D I'm sure I can fix it I just need to know what's involved or what the problem might be
Whats involved/ why is this leaking

any help would be great, to at least point me in the right direction

Thats the shaft that connects to the tie rod, correct?
That there is hydraulic oil.
You say 50 hour service, as in 50 hours on tractor?
Warranty.

Yeah 51 hours now on the tractor, but bought it used off another guy. Warranty transfers? Its a 2013 - kubotas have a 2 year warranty? I'm thinking its expired unless the guy bought it in december

Its the steering cylinder looking up the parts diagrams. Looks like there is the head and then the seal kit. Guessing the seal kit on the one side is shot.

Took a look and nope - nothing above it leaving. That would be too easy :)

Definitely coming from the seal kit /oring looks like.

I have to get around to calling my kubota dealer and seeing by chance if the thing is still under warranty. If not I will have them order up the few parts and then when i have a free chance see how it comes apart and replace it. Sounds like a nice sunday project

Not unheard of. The cylinder is leaking. If tractor is less than 2 years old, have the dealer replace it under warranty. They might try to rebuild it, but Kubota will buy a new one if they submit a preapproval. They aren't that expensive, at least at the dealer price (which is what Kubota pays), compared to labor + repack kit.
