I guess anything is possible. I can give you this thought on it. When I changed the hyd oil in my Cat loader and went to the oil we had in our bulk tank the loader made more noise than it did with the factory Cat oil. When I put Amsoil in my tractors they got quieter than before. Your guess is as good as mine but I can't help but think the oil is playing a factor in your new noise.

So I was talking to my dealer the other day, they sent a guy down to look at my tractor and he said he's never heard a noise like mine is making , figures i'd have the oddball one:rolleyes:. He thought maybe it could be a bad filter from new somehow making the noise when the fluid passes through it. The noise sounds as if it's coming from right around that area of the HST filter and I also notice when you push the clutch it stops. They gave me another filter to put on if I choose to, I told them if it doesn't cure it i'd go good for the filter but i'm kind of wondering now if it's possible that's the problem? The guy they sent to my place to listen to it come to find out is kind of the all tasks guy at the shop that was down here on service calls just dropping off gear, so i'm not sure of his expertise. Possible it's a filter issue ? Anyone see it before?
You might have a HST filter problem or cavitation with your charge pump for the HST

Not sure on the oil idea, like I said in previous post I put the UDT Kubota fluid in it that the dealer told me too, I questioned the service guy and the parts guy on UDT and Super UDT, they both said there is basically no difference between the two except for one small detail and I can't remember what it was. They claim they don't even stock Super UDT or ever use it

Most dealers don't stock it and they don't push it so they don't have to order it either. I promise you this though, your tractor had Super UDT in it when it rolled out of the Kubota factory. All Kubotas do when they are new. They say that this is done so no matter what climate the tractor goes to it will be prepared for it. If the Super UDT is better in the cold which I think most will agree to that fact. This means that there is a difference in the oil when the two are compaired.

If you are still looking at what I'm pointing at then think on this.

You know the Super UDT is more expensive than UDT is. Keeping that in mind, why does Kubota use the higher priced oil? It gives you a higher level of protection than the UDT offers. Not only is it better in the cold climates it is better in the hot as well. If it will flow better in the cold it does the same in the hot. The reason I say that is it flows better in the winter is because it creates less friction. If it has less friction this means it will lower your temp in the summer. Lower temp means less strain and wear.

I'm just passing on this info and hope it makes since to you. I personally don't use either type of fluid as most of you probably know by now. I'm not trying to push either type on anybody. I just hope it makes more since how the two oil differ from each other and why the Super UDT really is better for your tractor no matter what climate you live in.

I wont disagree with you whatsoever on the oil issue, i'm kind of the same thought. There must be some difference if they make two types, but i'm no oil expert. They gave me another filter to try but I think what i've decided to do instead of trying another filter and being out $80 and still end up taking the tractor to them to hear it, I will take it out there first and see what they say, from a true mechanic this time. I wouldn't expect them to go good for a filter if I changed it and it still made the noise. I can live with the noise, i'm just fearful i'm causing damage by running it this way. I said about the noise stopping when pushing the clutch, I was hopeful it create less flow through the filter adn that's why the noise stopped:confused: Anyway, thanks for the input, i'll post if I find out what it is

When you push in the clutch it stops everything behind it which is the hydrostatic transmission. Part of the tranny is the charge pump which supplies oil to the HST. Pushing the clutch stops all that so that is why your noise stops. So yes it stops all flow through the filter. I would check that you have the right filter.
