I have a 2003 M5700 with ROPS. I was using my tractor to run a log spitter and the second day, my tach quit working. I have a repair manual from WSM and I can not find anything on the tachometer. Is it electrical, mechanical, where do I start troubleshooting?

It's a cable tachometer.
It connects in front of the injection pump on the gear case.;)

Thank you for the info. I will look at the cable and connections, what is the typical problem, a bad cable?

Typically the break the front gear drive, not too expensive and super easy to replace that part. ;)

On advantage of the larger models, they tend to leave you a little more room to work on things, but not always.

Pulled the cable and found it to be broken maybe an inch past the connector near the pump. Will have to order a new cable. Thanks for the help. Also glad I took the dash off, found the pivot bolt for the shuttle shift ready to fall out. That would not have been good out on a job!!

The tach drive does not get oil from the engine. I would lube the drive with motor oil while the cable is removed. No lube in the drive is why they fail, in my openion.
