Has anyone had any experience with in line radiator hose heaters. I have a 2010 l2800 and was told that I can't use a block heater on this model. Any suggestion?

They need to be installed on a 10-15 degree UP angle. In other words install in a straight section of lower hose, but only if the hose angles up into the motor. If it angles up into the radiator, all you do is heat the radiator. This can be alleviated to some extent, if you park the tractor in such a way that the right angle can be met. I have a couple of older tractors, that are not in this category. To pre-heat them, I use a coleman naptha heater, and put it directly under the motor, and let the radiant heat heat up the block. You don't want to do this for more than an hour or 2, and also don't go away and forget it's on...:D

This is a screwball idea, and before everybody falls over laughing at the thought :p. I wonder if a king sized electric blanket over the hood would work if on for several hours? Might heat the air around the block by convection from the warmed up hood?

The reason I was thinking outside the box is my Kubota is squeezed into the woodfloored aisleway of my 175 year old wooden, filled with hay, horsebarn. I thought it might be safer. There seem to be standards to keep electric blankets from setting fire to houses and people.

I can just see the picture now... maybe with a nice flowered comforter over the top.:D:D:D

And yes, I'd really like another building....

This is the first time I've heard any of the 2 comments.
Yes you can get a block heater for a L2800.

And it doesn't matter a whole lot on the orientation of the hose heater, it will work in just about any location.

Don't laugh. I used to put an electric blanket over the motor of a neighbors tractor to act as a pre-heater, topped with a moving blanket. The electric blanket had flowers on it. It worked!
