It's winter here finally with a good snowfall last night and today....And my B7100 is not so good as a snow plow. I've got a 60 inch blade attached to the loader bucket that looks good....But the aftermarket bucket doesn't have "float" so the operator has to make make constant bucket adjustments to keep the plow in contact with our long uneven stone/dirt driveway.Too much and it won't steer, you all know the routine. And also because a tractor has no suspension it's constantly lifting a wheel negotiating off camber turns. My big feet in heavy boots fumble for the differential lock. I figured with good thread AG tires it would laugh at snow...not really...
This is something I was naive about.... the Honda Foreman 4x4 ATV we used previously to plow was obviously better pushing snow on rough terrain. But the strenuous plow job caused damage to the ATV driveline....And if the snow piled up the ATV couldn't move it..
I might need a Jeep and plow....:D
But than this the Kubota is reliable and uses so little fuel it's amazing.
A back blade works well until the snow starts to pile up. Before I have a good surface I turn the blade backwards so I don't have a pile of gravel and rocks. If you can find a snowblower it will be your best bet for snow removal.

I should have mentioned that just this week I removed the wear bar and cut and installed 2, 5" wide strips of conveyor belt the length of the blade so that there is about 2 inches of belt below my blade doing the clearing. So far so good but I don't know how long it will hold up yet. I can tell you that even with float on the fel it will still dig in and make a mess on an uneven road with the blade sticking out that far. The back blade is what I use now for the first couple snow falls until I get a base the switch to the blower. Even at that having all dirt road I had to put extra skids off a UTV snowplow in the centre so it wouldn't pick up the gravel.

Yeah, I believe the blade out in front is only good for pavement... I have done a lot of snow plowing in a variety of vehicles, driven off road in Jeeps and so on.

That's what my road looks like come spring. More snow coming tomorrow and Monday they're calling for a bigger storm but that's a long ways of, a lot can between now and then. Your right though....that tractor is fun to play with.
Madness.....Mudtime and the "noaa" forecast.

"RIVERS AND STREAMS IN EASTERN WASHINGTON AND NORTHERN IDAHO WILL
SEE RISES BEGINNING THURSDAY AS THE FIRST OF SEVERAL ROUNDS OF
RAIN MOVES INTO THE REGION. SNOW LEVELS WILL BE ON THE RISE AS THE
STORMS WILL ALSO BRING WARMER TEMPERATURES AND WINDS. AREAS THAT
WILL LIKELY SEE THE GREATEST RAINFALL INCLUDE THE IDAHO PANHANDLE
AND FAR EASTERN WASHINGTON. THIS EVENT WILL HAVE A SIGNIFICANT"

Thanks for cooling me off! Four hours in the sun with the scarifier has got me wishing I was in snow country.

So the snow has been piling up here in northwestern masssachusetts and the b7100 has been doing a hell of a job for me! We actually have so much snow I'm running out of room to throw it..... What is a guy with a little tractor without a FEL to do?.... Call in the big dogs!

My buddy calls me up and asks if I have any snow piles I need pushed back because he's out in his loader....we are supposed to get another 12" on top of the 3' we just got in a week and he knows we're running out of room to put it... So I say...... Sure...I have two that are blocking my sight leaving the driveway.... I'll be right up he says...

He and his family own some serious equipment but I honestly didn't think he would show up in a CAT 950G...:p

He helped me out and cleared out our other friends complete front yard. Needless to say....we have some jealous neighbors :D and friends that always come through with a helping hand!

My buddy's front yard...

My place... Little Tangerine with the snowblower made the snowbanks that he's moving...not bad for a tractor that could fit in that bucket! :p

If we keep getting storms like we had in the last few weeks I'll have a glacier in my yard. Back in 09 had a glacier 8' tall of packed thrown snow. I have a tough driveway.... 3 cars wide at one end, 4 at the other... 70' long and only one place to throw it all. If I didn't have a snowblower on the tractor I would be in trouble!

Usually by the end of May they will melt :p. I hope!

My dogs are about fed up with snow, if I didn't clear them a spot to do their business they would probably just say screw you and go on my kitchen floor! Lol

NE Washington....major meltdown with warm temps and Chinook wind. Yuck!
Maybe the frost will go out the bottom and road will start to heal.

According to the 11:00pm forecast last night, snow is supposed to start this evening and snow until early sometimes Tuesday morning.:( 12" to 24" or more depending on which way the wind blows. How is that for a guess.:rolleyes:

The "Glen" prediction for the end of winter up here

The last 2 week of Feb, the temp will drop like a rock and the snow will fall in feet not inches, and Mar will come and we will go through the melt rain and mud all over again :(

I was wondering what the chances of you guys and maybe us having an early spring. I hate the mud seasons, spring and fall, the prospect of doubling them would be really depressing. :(

Indeed, but with The Pats winning I am okay with it!
