I've working on firewood the last couple weeks. Limb wood and sort pieces previously cut and laying out in the woods I pick up with my little crane and trailer.

Most trees I cut are from thinning or just low quality like this odd shaped 3 stemmed maple that is blocking light from the young pole sized red oak across the trail.

I like your crane, but I clicked on the pictures several times to enlarge them looking to see how it was attached. I finally noticed it was 2 different tractors and winches!
Tunnel vision because I was admiring the crane I guess.
Did you build that yourself or something you bought or adapted?

I made up an adapter from 3pt to SSQA and I can use the forks on back as I palletize my firewood .
I made a mount on that so I could use my HF pickup crane winch on there to pick up awkward things to load or move.

I also use that adapter but put the loader bucket on it, angle it down to pack the snow and smooth our dog walking trails thru the woods. A lot easier to go forward instead of back . dragging like I did in the past

It won't be long.

Just a word of caution. Should you decide to do that, you may want to check what type of insurance you have for that sort of thing. KTAC, "inland Marine" or commercial policies cover you....typical homeowners policies do not cover your equipment off of your property.

Just sayin' ;)
I've done quite a few little projects for my immediate neighbors that involve tractors, and each year I cut my friend's fields along the river and he's 20 miles from me. I also do cutting/mulching/discing jobs in the summer for fun and play money, but mostly to be on a tractor. Both of my tractors are insured through State Farm to satisfy Kubota Credit and I don't put much if any thought into the possible ramifications of being off property. Many here will trailer their tractor to take it to the nearest Kubota dealer so does KTAC cover that?

I enjoy running a tractor so it's not a chore to help out friends and neighbors. The only time I've ever charged my immediate neighbors is when I spent around an hour moving snow for them one year. That was more out of frustration since they've been here for six years or so (came from CA) and still haven't assembled any snow removal equipment. Typically the jobs are fast such as spreading out piles of gravel, or pulling out concrete footings, or pulling out the daughter's car from a ditch after she's managed to leave the driveway. Even though they offer to pay for time and fuel, I'd rather have a good relationship with them than get bogged down in money related issues.

One of my neighbors has a building company and a long, steep gravel driveway so I used the MX to take the EA land leveler over to him last year, and picked it up a few days later when he was done. He ran it behind his skid steer and was really pleased with the finish he was able to achieve on his driveway. He dropped off a bottle of gin to say thanks, and I gave the gin to another friend since I've given up alcohol (for the most part).

Thanks. It is mounted on my Farmi JL290 winch/L3010 tractor. Swings on a pipe in a pipe type hinge. I put a lever actuated automatic brake on the winch so I didn't need to use the brake rope when lifting. A couple pics....

Simple answer...is yes. KTAC covers pretty much anything short of damage caused by an act of war or deliberate destruction. It even covers "stupidity". In your question above that would typically be covered by your auto policy....that should cover anything that you have behind your insured auto.

Ok, now I don't want this to get turned into an insurance thread, there are plenty of those on this forum. I understand that my situation is different since I use my machines for business. Now, I'm regretting even mentioning what I did. With that said, I'm out.

Carry on

I really should plow the driveway today but it's 10f and I'm worried I would hurt the tractor. I don't have any anti gel in it but it has winter mix from the fuel station. However it is parked in a heated garage. But I haven't used it in these temps. It is sunny though.

We were supposed to have a big storm last night but all I have is 1/2" of an icy snow on the ground. I'm not going to bother trying to move it, but perhaps I'll regret that decision when it freezes into a sheet of ice tonight. Hopefully it'll melt off on the asphalt driveway that faces south west.

I was expecting lots of snow this winter since the Farmer's Almanac predicted colder and wetter than normal. So far this winter has resulted in the least amount of snow on the ground in the 11 years that I've lived up here.

Installed my new Land Pride plow on the B26 and plowed the driveway (~450') to get the hang of it. We had 5-6" on the ground from two snows this week, but we'd just been driving on it. Going down to -6F here tonight and I thought I should get rid of it before it becomes a skating rink.

Waiting on a poly cutting edge that's on backorder.

That's awesome. Kind of like the smaller cousin to the STB1596 I have. Looks like you have hydraulic angle set up too which is the way to go. (y)

Yes, when I bought it, I really wanted a grapple, so I had them put the third function on it.

Still haven't bought that grapple. Forks and now this have been more immediately useful. 🤷‍♂️

I guess I'm just gonna have to say no to helping anyone. That's the safest thing. But it's hard for me because I like helping people but maybe it's not worth it anymore.
Just talk to your insurance agent and make sure you have the coverage you’re comfortable with rather than assuming. I’ve used my tractor at church and at a couple friend’s places, all non-commercial. Being its non-business use it cost me very little to add off premises coverage, which is what I prefer. Coverages vary quite a bit from state to state and to some degree from company to company.

I like helping people when the opportunity arises so it’s worth $150 a year or so to have the option to do so if I see fit; I just can’t and won’t accept payment so it stays non-commercial. For example, a good friend a couple miles from me had a tree blow down in his yard. Got a quote for I think $1200 to clean it up plus $350 to grind the stump. I have a grapple, chipper, and stump grinder. It only took most of a day, but I would have felt like a pretty sorry friend to not help him.

I don’t let anyone borrow my equipment other than my brother (and my father prior to his passing). He and I co-own a couple implements and we had the same trainer so I’d let him borrow my tractor if his was down. Other than him, folks can borrow my stuff with the bonus that I am part of the package deal. My equipment and I will help, but no one other than my brother is operating my equipment without me present.

Moved some logs that I didn't get blocked up last week and blocked them up and split them. I had some help with them from my wife. She does a lot better job of stacking then I do.

Then fell a dead standing Oak. Got 4 80" logs out of it. Got them blocked up and split too. Didn't get the wood put in the shed, will work on that tomorrow with my wife.

It is really muddy here after all the snow and ice melted. We also received rain most of the day yesterday. If it dries up and warms a little, I will have to give the L3901DT at bath.

Another two days of playing in the mud doing firewood. No pictures.

I'll be glad when it dries out a little. At least all of the snow and ice have melted.

Went to the indoor shooting range, too many people so I came home and plowed the drive way instead...only a few inches but tomorrow is gonna be 40f, didn't want it to get sloppy. Plus I was bored.
