Took the big girl for a walk in the woods and cleaned up some new trails. 🥃
Big wood! What is the skidding tool called? It looks v useful.

I cut down about a half dozen smaller red maple today; they were crowding the oaks. The fire I used to dispose of the tops is still burning.

I dont know what it is called, I did not give it a name. 😄 That’s a home brew though…for the most part it was catalog engineering. The base of it is actually the base of a landpride rear blade…I ordered that part from dealer and then added to it.

Spent a little time yesterday moving gravel back up the hill with the bucket. I put the backhoe on last weekend and didn't want to take it off. Took a little longer doing it with the bucket, but it turned out okay. When I take the backhoe off, I will use the land plane to fix it right.

I had to cross my main bridge to access some Bushhogging Thursday and a couple of decking boards flipped up catching the Bushhog. I finished cutting but no way was I gonna cross back over with the Bushhog. I disconnected it and crossed back with only the tractor, soooo, it was bridge rebuilding today.

We will have our Annual Trail Ride and Scavenger Hunt on the 4th and the trails are now ready. (y)
You didn't let those oak planks you just sawed out sit around very long (y) Have fun on trail ride day

Used the landplane to level off my new driveway and part of the yard. I need to get rid of the tree at some point but it isn't interfering with anything yet.

Yup, this was a surprise so I have to always be on the lookout for White Oak and Post Oak logs. Between the two bridges there are about 40, 2X12's so it is a constant thing. We probably replace about a dozen each year.

Keeping the grass down!!! But we got to, every time lately when we walk the dog we are covered in ticks they like tall grass.
Have you tried 0.5% permethrin on the dogs and your clothes? Works great on southern USA ticks.

No I haven’t. I use bug spray but doesn’t seem to do much I just get used of pulling those little SOB out of the skin. But my puppy sure hates it. I appreciate the feedback I’ll look into it.

Pulling stumps from the future mini-orchard and vegetable garden. This is looking south. Area also gets morning and afternoon sun.

A two car garage will eventually go on the other side of the tractor. A bunch of the trees behind the tractor will come out to make room for the garage, let more sun in, and reduce wild fire risk.

Good stuff. Spray in on your shoes, pants legs and socks and let dry. If you check into it some hikers even was their clothes in it for protection. I think it's supposed to last a couple of washings.
Another one is to sprinkle sulfur on your shoes and pants legs. Works great, but stinks and is messy.

Permethrin is good for treating clothing, but I find it a pain to keep re-treating.

We use picaradin spray which seems to be effective, and far easier to just spray socks/ankles and pant legs as you head out for the day.

I use the permethrin on my hats that I wear and like yourself, I use picaradin for my own treatment. I have both the spray and lotion. I use the lotion most of the time, but keep a can of spray in the SUV so always have some handy for those unplanned trips.

We do monthly oral treatment for our dog (Nexguard) and it has done a great job of keeping ticks and fleas off the dog.
