While mowing yesterday the machine suddenly gave off a hot burning smell even when the blades were turned off. Sort of like a belt slipping but the fan was rotating fine seemed like. Any suggestions what to suspect or where to begin looking for the source. It does eventually start up but it is a struggle seems like. Appreciate the assistance!

As a general troubleshooting procedure, I would take off (or loosen) the belt and turn things by hand, to see if any pulley seems “sticky” or “frozen”.
