Hey,

I own a 2009 zd221 with 213 hours. Mower has been flawless.........until this past Monday. While mowing the right side would not steer. Left side, deck lift, etc. all still work. Just no steering on right side. Checked all the linkages and all seem to be correct. Took it to my local dealership and they cant find out what is wrong. Any suggestions before they start talking about trading in my mower? Thanks. REALLY NEED SOME GOOD ADVICE!

To me, sound advise would be to find someone else to work on your mower. Any dealer with analytical instruments and good sense should be embarrassed to say "we can't find It". It hasn't been long since you posted but hold tight and someone here will very likely know what the problem could be. A 213 hour machine is repairable, period.

you need data.

what is the charge pressure?

what is the high relief pressure for left side forward? Left side reverse? Right side forward and reverse? These need to be known before one can say "it's junk buy a new one".

I've seen VERY few issues out of these and those that I have seen were issues that were recurring until the root was fixed; or were operator related.

So on that note, do they have the data? Do they have any information on it as to what they've checked? I mean....it could be a million things, relief valve stuck/broken spring, control linkage off, broken axle, broken hst, etc.

If I have it in my possession, I'm going to first thing check the fluid level. Secondly check the control linkages and the linkage attachments. Thirdly if 1 and 2 are ok, remove the suction screen on the bottom of the case and inspect for debris. The type debris on it will indicate where to go next. If none, it's almost got to be a brake case/axle issue based on my experience.

The first thing to do is mark the tire and rim, try to drive it and see if the marks are out of line. It is not uncommon for the rim to spin inside of the tire. We have run into 3 or 4 in as many years.
