hmm, there's TWO ways to 'jumper' the solenoid

1) big fat cable between the two big studs. This puts battery +12 to the starter motor , high current )

2) battery feed to the control wire tab. This powers the actual solenoid coil, which connects +12 to the starter motor.

It's unclear which procedure you're doing.

#1 bypasses the solenoid
#2 mimics the 'key start'

Hello,

I take my regular auto battery jumper cable and attach one lead to the starter, and then sit in the seat with the key on and touch the other side of the jumper cable to the hot side of the solenoid. Then crank til it starts.

Thank you
Bill

I have the same zero. Had this problem a few yrs ago. When it does run do you get any misfires too?
After many hrs of beating my head against the wall I finally traced it to bad wiring on the voltage regulator.

This is where i made repairs. Red wire comes from voltage regulator. I would have same issues as you. When it did run I would get intermittent misfire. Turn off pto it would level out. Bad wiring was not allowing enough voltage to flow affected running and safety switches for no start condition. Maybe?🤷

I was only looking for the wiring diagram online because I have developed the same problem with my Z122R... what a find this forum is, like minded Kubota drivers sharing service and maintenance issues, fantastic. reading from the beginning of this article I did the obvious and replaced the starter coil because I couldn't start on the key switch but could jam a screw driver across the terminals to get it going...
With the old coil out (and tested okay on the bench) and the new one in, exactly the same!
Finding the wiring diagram on this forum explains the many interactive components in play just to start these things but my money is on the key switch, seems even Kubota admit a problem with them as they are a noted 'consumable' ...
I'll keep you posted and thanks to those who have contributed so far, a great help
Thanks

'consumable' just means something that wears out or gets used up NOT that there is a 'problem'.
Air filters are consumables. They get filled up with dust, need to be replaced. Same for tires, oil filters, etc.
A 'starter solenoid' (starter coil), is just a 'relay' it has contacts in it, that 'spark' due to current flowing through them, they are rated for xxxx number of operations, @ yyy amps of current.
