Wow,custom low profile hood ornament

Did all filters/fluids 2 days ago and thought I might have had a leak (didn't--different story) so today I put on the FEL (first time this season) and was just double checking engine oil level and caught my fri~!#$~k#$ hood ornament on the brush guard. I've been meaning to loosen up and lubricate the brush guard since Kubota installed it last year, but as I am not under the hood everyday, I put up with the extreme stickiness of it. Musta been installed with an air gun. GEEZ.

Well, today, I pushed the brush guard down "out of the way" (or so I thought) and when I pulled the hood up, then after checking the oil, pushed it back down.. KWA-TAHAAAAAAANG, ripped the little hood ornament right off and across the garage it went. The brush guard was only pushed down maybe 90% of the way or so. Hood ornament slid right by the rubber strip, but it's shaped such that if you close the hood, it'll catch and make that KWA-THAAAAAANG sound I previously mentioned as it launches itself at your head or whatever ;-)

Of course, the horse is already out of the pen, but my stupidness convinced me to lube and loosen that frikkin' brush guard finally.

So,I installed a chunk of electrical tape as a "splash guard" to prevent rain/snow from dripping on the muffler until I can decide what I want to do.

One post is totally broken off and the other one pretty damaged. If there was any flat spots, I'd use a 3M double face tape and just tape it back on, but the dang thing is mostly hollow....small hole, large center hole and another small hole in the hood....all in a line. I was thinking of something aprox a quarter sphere (& smooth), so it wouldn't catch on the brush guard again. That, or maybe 3 x SS nuts/bolts. Pee me off ! (LOL!)

Turn lemons into lemonade by customizing with a large enough replacement to cover that big hole in the hood?

Mudflap girl’s butt isn’t big enough to cover the hole in the hood but a little time with a piece of stainless plate would probably be worth the effort to get her up there. Might even be able to remember to move that grille guard for her.

That’s a heck of a hole in the hood for that little hood ornament. I do like some of the options above.

Can you make the holes on the bottom of the stock wizzer large enough to fit a small hex nut? If so, JB weld a nut in there and get a fender washer that you contour to the inside of the hood and screw it back on. Or just JB weld the wizzer to a contoured fender washer.

BTW, I wasn't fan of the BX series’ backwards opening hood and cooling fan that serves as on operator warmer. One of a dozen reasons I went with the B for my bitty tractor.

Yep. Even the grill on my LX2610 is a hassle. Gotta remember to flip them both. Otherwise, it can be fun be ya gotta get your priorities in line.

Why not fill the hole in the ornament with jb weld and then use the double sided tape as you suggested.

My Kubota manual calls that a “Mascot”. (Now I know why nekkid girls are a fitting substitute.)

Mine broke off right after I got the machine, and I haven't even considered getting a replacement. I had plugged in the block heater and pulled the electrical cord over the hook, and kerplunk the hood ornament was on the ground. Figure that if it is that fragile that its replacement won't be any better, and a replacement would be money wasted that could be better spent on some fuel.

I did as someone ( @thebicman I believe) suggested. Filled it full of epoxy, waited 24hrs, filed a rough edge/surface to the epoxy and used some good doublefaced tape and stuck er back down. Good to go!
