I have a Kubota B7001 4x4 with a damage ( blown ) 3 cylinder 16hp diesel engine and I'm seeing a 3 cylinder 16hp diesel engine on craigslist ( model # D-600 ) i'm hoping someone in this forum can tell me if it will fit my tractor or not ?? both engines are water cooled..thanks in advance....johnny

The d600 engine is not a 16 horse engine. That would be the d640 engine. But to answer your question, short answer is no. The d600 engine came in the g5200 garden tractor and is 14 horse if I remember correctly. They were mounted to the frame of the tractor on rubber bushing facing "backwards" and we're connected to the transmission with a driveshaft. Your b7001 has the engine bolted to the transmission and would have to be split to remove it. Hope you find a good engine. Maybe yours is an easy fix if it's just the head gasket.

The mounting direction of the engine doesn't affect the swap, but the inability to mount up needed components like the hydraulic pump and locations of Hose outlets and such, and the flywheel and bellhousing mounting, and the lack of the ability to install the proper oil pan are all the critical "NO GO" reasons. ;)

Yep, good point. I wasn't even thinking of the accessories that would need to be mounted.
