I have a chance to buy a Woods 3-point backhoe model 750 from 1987 that is in excellent condition for $3,500
I'm going to put it on a L3010, would this be a good combination?

I have always heard that the 3 point hoes aren’t good for a tractor. Too many stresses on weak points. I imagine if your uses are light duty you’d be ok.

My neighbor uses a three point hoe with no issues - but only for light work. I have read that it can put enough stress on the tractor to snap the frame. If you get it use with care.

Any 3pt. backhoe, on any tractor, is generally considered a bad idea.
If you plan on digging in a pile of dry feathers......probably OK.

Neill from Messicks has a "video" on YouTube where he talks about backhoe compatibility issues. You might want to view it. Things to consider regarding fitment. Good luck.

That's what I thought they're hard on a tractor, and I wanted to dig stumps out?

If you decide to go that route, beef up the top link tractor bracket and stabilizers.

My brother bought the same backhoe for his JD950 and dug a trench to put electric under ground from his house to a separate garage it worked fine, then he took it to the edge of his property to dig a old shagbark hickory stump out he figured if he took his time he would be ok well he cracked his tractor and lost all his transmission oil was a 4500 dollar repair. He did sell the backhoe for what he paid for it on craigslist and ended up trading his JD in for a new L47 TLB. Hard lesson learned.

History is replete with these 3pt backhoe disaster stories!
The Kubota L47 TLB is a wonderful machine, and REAL (dedicated) backhoe!
I have a 2006 Kubota L48 TLB,....... the predecessor to the L47 TLB.

I ran a home conversion three point backhoe on a JD 3010 tractor for years. Never had any issues with the tractor or backhoe. Sold it as a package and the last I knew it was still working. That being said I wouldn't put a three point backhoe on my MX6000. I don't think the tractors three point would take it.

I just sold my Woods BH750 and the J-D 990 I used it on. Prior owner had it on a smaller Yanmar (~28 horse) and it was fine. I worked it hard a few times and I can’t say I ever felt the hoe or tractor were overstressed. I have heard the stories but my experience was great. Good digging hoe and good match for my tractor. You can still get subframes for Woods backhoes if you are nervous.

Check with your local Woods dealer I was able to order a sub frame for a Bh 7500 just a newer version which mounted on all basic L series 2800,3700,3800 etc maybe 3 years ago for around 1200 if I remember correctly

Old thread, but I'll chime in. I have a L2900 with A woods BH7500 backhoe, very similar to your setup. I rip stumps out (with ripper tooth, not bucket), dig ditches, pits for a propane tank, ect. That tractor is moved and nudged and pulled in every direction, no issues.

The critical key is that you runa backhoe subframe and tractor toplink reinforcement kit. I run both of those and haven't had any issues. The backhoe subframe is thick reinforced steel and mounts to the tractor at two locations. This inconjunction with the stabilizers keeps the forces from cracking the tractor frame. Like others said, do not connect by way of lift arms or you will put stresses on the tractor frame beyond design limits.
