With all the pissin', moanin', division and rhetoric nowadays, it's hard to remember that we still live in the best country in the world.
Just forget all that and celebrate all those who made it possible and have a good holiday!

Backatcha Skeets, and hope everyone has a safe day as well. If you're shooting fireworks, be especially watchful and careful. I know first hand what a large mortar feels like when it hits you in the chest from about 30 feet. First two rounds went up, and I was watching the second when I saw the 3rd come straight at me. The tube fell over after the second round, an I didn't notice until I saw the muzzle flash of the 3rd round. Couldn't run or react as I was just 3 weeks out of my first rotator cuff surgery. Left a rather large bruise. I was very lucky that I didn't get hurt a lot worse. I don't think a 12 gauge rubber bullet or bean-bag round would have hurt any worse. This is not a paid political ad against fireworks, just advice to be careful. If your luck is as bad as mine, go watch someone else do it from a longer distance. Bad things seem to find me.

I live out in the country, but have neighbors a 1000 ft. or so in two directions. Last night about 10PM our whole house shook. I was at my computer and the monitor actually rolled a bit. Soon the flashing lights came and they turned up to the house next to and behind our property. I finally went out to see what the commotion was and to check things in the barn. Before long three ambulances, one firetruck, and about 5 sheriff/police car were there. Hauled one young man to KC to KU hospital. Don't know how bad any of them were injured.

Seems stupid to me, but some find a thrill in it. I'd imagine the man who owns the property could be facing a law suit if things don't go good.

I'll thank you personally for your service. I have a cousin's name on panel 1W. I have never felt so humbled as I was when I touched that black marble, standing in the middle of 65000 names. I was too young to serve then and it was thankfully over by the time I finished high school. We had the longest peace time this country ever had during my eligible years, so I never had to serve. I thank all that did so I didn't have to. All gave some, some gave all. Lest we forget. They shall not grow old ....
