while brush cutting a stick pushed up under all guards and pushed wiring bundle against exhaust manifold near the starter and melted plastic covering causing wires to all short out. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for an L3800 in the starter area? does the starter have a Main fuse located near it that could have blown? H E L P

The wiring diagram is in the WorkShop Manual for the L3200 and L3800. Wolfman may have it on his website, otherwise a search of this forum should find an electronic copy.

The fuses are on the left side of the console. There are a couple of slow blow 40A which are around the starter circuits. You may as well check all of the fuses on that fuse panel.

Since you can see the damaged wires, I would disconnect the battery.
You can then choose to completely replace the wires or to fix them by splicing on either side of the damaged area.

I would use automotive wire which is oil and diesel resistant. Stranded because of vibration. Match sizes and colors.

Splices I would crimp with Ancor Marine Grade Adhesive Lined Heat Shrink Butt Connectors, or Forney brand. Heat gun or head dryer to shrink tubing for water tight seal.

I have the WSM for the L3200 and L3600, but sadly not the L3800.:(
