A pretty solid anti-gel treatment review from Project Farm.

I'll be trading in my Howes for Hot Shots after getting gelled up this past Monday.
Worth a try anyways.
Im about an hour east of you and I've used Hot Shots since I purchased my tractor and have never had a gelling issue.

Five degrees with a five below wind chill and I’m out there putting tarps over the tractor and firing up the kerosene torpedo. Put Diesel 911 and some Howes in – just because I had it – and let it heat up for over an hour. It finally started and got it into the garage. First time in 6 years it’s ever gelled up, but once is too many at my age. I'm definitely following your lead.

Have used power service when I had my rig. Never gelled. Use it in my 1880. No issues gelling. Good stuff.

I too use PS to supplement what the refinery puts in winter diesel. 2oz per 5 gallon on top of premium winter fuel.

Never had gelling problems and frequently plow and move logs at -30 plus whatever windchill may throw at us.

From a purely anti gel perspective, it appears that the bottom 4 are the ones to avoid.

I haven't put anything in mine yet. Vermont does use winter mix for diesel during this time of the year. I thought about putting some additives in it according to project farm, I was impressed how less wear it was on metal components.

My tractor is in a heated garaged so I don't think gelling is a huge issue for me. But I also learned that these additives can increase fuel efficiency but I don't know for sure.

Either way, it can't hurt right?

I might have to get some.

I've never had a fuel related issue with four tractors, three trucks and a generator, and that includes years operating a truck in Hawaii which is humid and hot most of the year, and through all four seasons in Montana over the past nine years where humidity is low but temperatures range from -20F to 90F throughout the year.

I've been using Stanadyne for decades, but a recent video posted here suggested that there is a better product out there so I'm going to gradually migrate away from Stanadyne, and double the dose until my supply has been used up.

@nerwin I would recommend adding some during the winter months. I don't trust the fuel station additive and if you are out plowing when it's -10F, fuel can still gel in the fuel filter.

Sea Foam for all my equipment fuels. Gas and diesel, year round. 150ml/20L jug, at the pump.

Never had a single fuel problem. -35C to +35C. 7 years and 1300 hours on the tractor.

Fuel filter is washed in kerosene and the previously cleaned spare rotated into service at recommended service intervals. I've only needed these fuel 2 filters. May buy a new pair someday. Just because?

And SF treatment every oil change for the pickup. Original injectors at 400,000 km says something. Owned since 12,000 km.

There's been lots of talk on this subject on OTT.

a heated shop is definitely a nice bonus.... just a heads up and sure you are already managing but going in and out of heated shops in the winter can create more condensation problems so managing this condensation and its troubles with biodiesel / ULS diesel becomes even more important!!

I only keep the shop around 40-45f. Not super warm but not freezing. So hopefully causing too much condensation, haven't seen any yet. I look at the fuel filter each time, dont see any speration yet.
