Why should I buy BX25D?

It truly is a work horse. just like a goat "chrews tin cans and spits nail".
Couldn't ask for a tougher rig, for size and price. "sips fuel and spits rocks".

I'm not so sure I'd want anything to do with coal mining. I understand you are mining (for a lack of a better word) on you belly rolling around on a creeper. That doesn't sound fun at all. Hard rock mining is hard but yet kinda fun you get to blow stuff up
LOL,, well some mines are like that mostly in southern Appalachia and out east in the anthracite coal region and some of the lower seams. I worked the Pittsburgh seam any place from 6 to 10 feet high.. And we did blow stuff up too ,,,, fire in the hole I love things that go boom

My Wife for quite awhile thought I worked in a zoo, that was till she was able to get a tour. Not sure if the terminology is the same for you Frogs, Camels hump, Grizzlies, and when talking about where you were imagine you are in a whale the back is above you, the belly is where you are walking, left and right are the ribs, as you are going in you have the face to the front and behind you is the tail. Most of the earlier portion of last mine I worked at was developed with the use of donkeys.
OH yeah we had HOG BACKS, root balls, slips, and very large chunks of blue rock they called, (N) heads, but all the same things any and all of which can and will kill you if you get stupid of relax to much. Bu then I got in with the Feds and did electrical reviews and electrical inspections for a long time, not a bad job at all except for the 12 and 14 hour days when testing and doing surveys . The only thing I really hated about the job was investigating accidents, and the fatal ones were the worse part of that.
I mean how do you explain to a family that your hubby or daddy isn't coming home because he got stupid, I never did learn how to do that.

I worked in the shaft for awhile. And strangely enough I kinda liked it. A couple years ago we had a local fatal incident where the guy and or his partner got stupid. They were working on top of the skip and were tied off to the shaft and not to the hoist rope and belled it up. I'm sure you knew what happened next.

I am getting hung up on the BX25. On paper it has the weakest hydraulics ,and that has me terrified of making the wrong choice. Mahindra seems to be the strongest then the Massy GC1720. I am all set to buy a GC1720 but I also want a grapple system that is relatively turn key. Kubota seems to excel here as well as other bolt on things.
I really really like the Kubota, but I sure dont want to make an incorrect choice.

Flienlow, I am confused, in your other thread it sounds like you already have a BX 25d and are wondering if it will handle the grade around your house?
I am thinking the critical problem is the area not shown in those photos, above the house, if I understood your original post correctly, and almost everyone was suggesting some other piece of equipment for that steep of a slope in general. If so get the tractor you like the most, and don't fret the on paper specs.
In any case getting a tractor is not like acquiring a spouse, you can fairly easily sell it and get a different one as your needs change. Good luck and enjoy whichever you pick

But that aint in the budget!!! A Small tractor is. A buddy and me (both of us have run some iron in our day) walked the slope and believe we can make a SCUT work. Its not perfect, but doable in small steps.
Others have suggested I get a motorized wheel barrow ect, but that is just not going to work for what I need.
From my research Kubota wins in:
Reliability
availability
and Expandability (turn key add-ons and so forth)
but is far from the top in Ability.
My buddy has a lot of BX24 time, and tells me its a pretty light duty machine which perplexes me as to which way I should go.

skeets said it best - look at other construction sites........and looking at those pictures.....I would not be excited moving on those slopes.......
you best be rall careful - and i mean reaaaaaaaal careful - did you measure the slope I asked you to do? 4' level and tape measure? If so - what was the slope angle?

and Max22,24,25 again.
BX has the best size, hate the sloppy backhoe controls.
JD has the best creature comforts.
Mahindra has nice tight hydraulic controls, but the fit and finish is....lack luster IMHO.

Orange.
Not necessary because im posting on this forum.
I am factoring in:
1.Size -I dont need a huge tractor
2.Availability- (parts & accessories) - Kubota is everywhere.
3.Cost- lower priced than some, free money 60mo @0%
4.History- Grandad beat the holy living P-water out of his, they wanted more.
5.Reviews- I went to a different forum that does tractor reviews (you all know it) The reviews for this tractor surprised me- A LOT. I did not read where people thought the loader was weak like I thought I would.
6.Grapple- this stupid thing has broke many a deal for me.
Since I am on it. Why am I (at this moment) deciding against:
1. Max 22,24,25 - Fit and finish is not where it needs to be for a machine at this price. Maybe its my hangup, but I find this "cheap" tractor isn't cheap, and needs to be dressed up a little. -However, I am more than sure it will do the advertised job.
2. JD 1025R - Like the Max, a little too big, and too much money. Looking at it, it should have stellar reviews, they seem marginal.
3. GC1720.- No local support, no easy addition of a grapple system or thumb. This tractor was my fist choice. I would need to travel for hours just to see one. None of them are available either. - This just miffs me, and is inexcusable IMHO.
This is all subject to change, but where I am at this moment. - Now...back to work.
I wrestled with this just like you did except I was just comparing green and orange. By the time you add all of the options to the BX to match the features on the 1025R, they're pretty close in price. I liked and disliked some things about both units so it was almost a coin toss for me. The BX certainly felt easier to use with its smoother hydraulics and slightly tidier dimensions, but the steering wheel position still felt awkward compared to the 1025R. I suspect the mowing quality is slightly better with the BX (less scalping) vs the 1025R. The BX seems to be a bulletproof machine whereas the 1 series Deeres seem to have had a few growing pains early on.
I liked the stronger loader capacity of the 1025R, even if the operation was less smooth than the BX. The driving position was better on the 1025R, but the backhoe ergonomics were much worse (the exact opposite of the BX). I wasn't crazy about the fact that the Deere mower deck doesn't have a center anti scalp roller, but I did like the auto connect feature (I'm picky about keeping my deck clean so ease of removal and installation was important to me). I prefer the transmission cooling setup on the Deere over the fan on the BX.
In the end I decided to go with the 1025R (it gets delivered tomorrow morning). The extra features and easier installation/removal of the implements were enough to sway my decision. It was still a very tough decision though and I'm sure I would have been happy with either one. Drive them all and buy the one you like the best. You really can't go wrong either way.
