I'm sure many reasons exist but why would so many come here and view threads but not join so they could share knowledge and participate?

Just looked at who was online and was surprised to see that only 18 were registered users and 281 were guests.

This is a great site and I spend more time than I should here but I love to read the posts and when possible offer some insight.

I wish more would join, out of the 281 I'm sure much useful knowledge is there that we all could benefit from.

Any thoughts, just curious and was surprised at the lurker total.

Thanks for your time.

Jay

Personally I view/read a lot but unless I log in I am one of those...I don’t have it set up to auto log me in.

I see did not think of that so it is possible that 1/2 the ones that have viewed this may be members.

I have mine set to auto log me in.

I only log in when I post. I wonder if the automated programs that figure out which ads go up on your page show up as users.

Y'all prolly know this already but...

There is a little button on the login screen you can check that automatically logs you in. I think it says "Remember Me."

Hey Jay, I like you, have always been amazed when someone finally joins and states that they have been "a long time lurker" but waited to join. Maybe they thought it would cost them to join?

#1 If you don't log in you don't get the special of the day...I wondered why no one has been claiming the free attachments and tractors that are given away daily.

#2 You don't get the fabulous benefit of PM's, far better than the lame Email thing.

#3 If you are a paid member you aren't getting the benefit of the lower advertising amounts.
And if your not a paid member you really should be, I'll even bet that at some point you've saved enough on some piece of advice that it really would have already paid for itself. ;)

Boy is that true. What I have learned as a tractor newby, and saved in equipment and hide, made the price of admission trivial.

NIW, thanks for weighing in!

No doubt that I have more than once saved enough money to cover my membership cost.

Not to mention maybe just once I have offered some advice that may have helped someone save some money or give them an idea to build from.

Been a part of many sites like this and all but this one I no longer follow the mods do so a poor job on the sites it was no longer worth the trouble.

You guys do a great job policing this site.

Someone belly up and leave the ranks of a lurker and become an official OTT member.

Quoted for truth! I really enjoy this site, don't post much but look forward to logging in every day to read posts and learn something new. It's a great site that seems to be full of great people!

It would be interesting to know how many bought a new tractor based on what they learned here, but only joined AFTER they discovered how much they didn't know.

I think people are slow to join because most internet forums are less than beneficial with REAL information, mostly opinions and BS to make the author feel good. Then they find out there really is some meat and potatoes here, so they join!
