Thanks Ed. I think you are right a sfar as the general rule about where to start. In this case it appears to be a safety switch. The tractor starts and runs fine using a wire to jump the starter.

The same thing just happened to me with my L4400. I was grading my road when my boys came by in the golf cart to tell me something. I shut the tractor off to talk to them and then, nothing.

The Service guys from Kubota were there this afternoon and even he was baffeled. We tried to jump it at the starter and even that didn't work.

With only 35hrs on the meter, they loaded it on the rollback this afternoon to take it into the shop. When I find out what it was, I'll post it for future owners.

You guys are holding the clutch pedal in while trying to start it aren't you?

There is a switch on the clutch pedal that if the pedal is not depressed, it will act exactly as you describe. Just making sure you are not just trying to start it in neutral while not pressing the pedal...

Good luck,

Steve

Sounds a bit like the neutral switch on the motion pedal. Try slowly carefully easing it forward/reverse/forward while trying to start.

It could easily be one of the many safety switches. Make sure the pto is disengaged, transmission disingaged, seat switch engaged etc. Sometimes the simple stuff eludes us.
