The CFO, SWMBO, has given the green light to buy a snowblower for my B2920. I want a front mount as my neck is screwed up and looking backwards for long time is out. I am trying to decide which one to get. The dealer has given me prices on the 51" B2781 and the 63" B2782 and the BX5455HD. He also said that the B series blowers were heavier duty than the BX. Is that so? I plan on getting the hydraulic chute rotation no matter which one I get. Anyone with experience in using these blowers have any suggestions?

Not sure about the B being heavier than the BX. I just ordered a new BX2822 for my BX2860. I can tell you that the difference between BX2822 and the BX2816 blowers was VERY noticeable. the 22 is commercial grade and the 16 is residential. I wanted the 55" vs the 51", also wanted the hyd chute and power deflector chute. One look at the difference all around and it turned into a no brainer. This will be my first year using a front mount after having had a 64" rear push. Go as heavy duty as you can, I doubt that you will regret it.

Looking at the weights published in the Wholegoods price list it looks like the B series are 125 and 150 lbs more than the BX5455.

The B2782 is fairly heavy gauge steel compared to the older BX model BX2750. Having said that it is no where close to the thickness of the L2185 snowblower.

Hydraulic chute rotation is very nice option to have, but a bit pricey.

Good luck with the purchase!

BAP - congrats!

You'll love a front mount. Had one 15 years on 2 different tractors. Had a JD425 with a 47", then the BX with a BX2750D since 2013.

I have a short, wide STONE driveway with a couple turnarounds that slopes down to the road. I also do some of the lawn so the dog has a place to do his business.

Couple questions - How long is your driveway? Surface? Wide, turnarounds, circles, slopes, etc?

For me, gauge of the steel of the blower is important, but not a sole deciding factor. Unless you do something foolish, bending it is not an issue. If you don't use salt, rust-through isn't a problem. Also, more weight up front can take away rear traction - your B has good size tires if loaded with ballast to help there.

The type/style/placement/adjustability of the shoes is VERY important. REALLY liked the shoes on the JD blower. Have always complained about the 2750D shoes since I owned it. (I think they have since improved them some). To me, an outboard placement of the shoe is preferred, with several options for bolt placement to adjust height. For an asphalt driveway, not as big an issue.

The fan/impellor is important. Okay with the Kubota fan I have.

The type of connection/hitch to the tractor is big. Not real solid for my blower IMO, but works just fine.

I had hydraulic chute on the JD. Bought the electric rotator for the Kubota ($350 or so). Still have it in a box; looked like junk. Tried to "trade" it for the hydraulic model, then found that was $800 :eek:! Have gotten so I deal with the old fashioned manual just fine!

For width, I don't want much more than covering my tire tracks. I need to get into a tight spot along the back walk, and have house on one side, and hill on the other.

My BX2750D has been flawless in the 4 seasons I had it, and the BX5455 is supposed to be much better.

For me, #1 is shoes, #2 is mount, and #3 is impellor, but I still want a good solid machine, if that makes sense....

Thanks for the information. My main driveway is paved about 60' long by 20' wide. I have to plow a road to the back side of property which is a hard pack material and is about 350 yards long plus some other paths to outbuildings. I also plow out some of the neighbors. As far as enough counter weight, I have a rear blade that I use for counter weight. I am leaning towards the 63" if I can get a good price worked out with my dealer.

I am leaning towards the B2782B 63” blower. Anyone have one of these and care to share your experience with this blower?

I have a B2782 b blower with Hyd, chute rotation. I added a linier actuator on the discharge with is a big help. No issues with it, except shear bolts doing their job. Mostly when running into ice which has come off the roof. My driveway is 350ft all downhill out of the garage all paved. I have my BX77 BH on for rear weight and comes in handy if I need to get out a jamb. Running R4 tires with Maxi-grip carbite studs in all four wheels

Listen to this fellow for sure. He knows of what he speaks, living in the " Lake Effect Snow Capital" of the world. Kubota should be using him for testing all of their snow removal equipment!!!!!!!!

Good advice you guys. Thanks, I think I will be getting the B2782B. We get a lot of snow where I live because we catch a lot of the moisture coming off the ocean, but far enough inland that it stays cold.
