OP- for what its worth, I regret buying my Landpride grapple everyday. I still use it, but it disappoints more than it impresses. Get a style like 12251hd has with 2 individual clamps. The other style is ok, if you are grabbing a big brush pile or a single log. But if you need to grab 2 dissimilar sized object, the smaller will fall through without fail. Same thing happens when that brush pile gets smaller. I think a rock bucket and with a 2 grapples would be a winning combination.

Sounds like good advice. Do you know where I can order the black sheath that comes on factory hoses?
Nothing you cover them with is going to protect the from the forces I am talking about. The key is to keep them out of the way. Ensure they arent sticking up or running across openings in the back of the grapple where a piece of wood can come through and hit one. Second, be sure the hoses arent going to get pinched by the curl function on your FEL. If they arent run correctly, they can get between the back of the SSQA connector plate and the actual FEL arm and get pinched.

As others mentioned, bungees or maybe reusable Velcro/zip ties might work. You will know once you get it installed.
