It's the boom lock pin.
Keeps the boom from falling, when unit is being traveled or parked.

Appears it is installed in your pic. It stows away in the floor of the backhoe in the area where your right foot would be during operation.

I leave both pins in the backhoe whenever not in use, so the bumping/jostling the backhoe takes when off-road doesnt beat up the pistons and valves.
