Oil doesn't burn dark, so it must be fuel? Every time I bump the throttle or every hill and load, the B7200 engine puffs a bit of darkness.

Let it go and sort it's self out, or bite the bullet and buy new injectors?

The smoke isn't bad, it's just not on par with the gas tractor in comparison.

(but more objectionable that the sweet running Mitsu in the Hurlimann)

My wife is trying to decide between a Bolens HT and the 7200 for winter snow blowing.
I'm pulling for the Kubota, but the Bolens has a head start and a lot to offer.

$300 for a set of new injectors is not a show stopper, but.........

Black smoke is unburned fuel. It’s normal if you don’t have a DPF. That means it’s giving all its got. It it has a mechanical injection pump, the timing could possibly be adjusted.

Under a load my old 7100 smoked like a train and it was fine. It would do that when I bought it and after over 6000 hrs it was still running strong. I wouldn't worry about it as long as it's running smooth.
Now if you have a miss or running ruff that's a different story.

Even my L3000 and M9000 blow a little smoke when they're working hard. This new crap is nothing but trouble. A diesel is suppose to smoke some.

I'm sure you've checked this but how long has the airfilter been in there? Is that model turbo'd or NA? If it's turbo check for boost leaks.

What do you have for a Bolens? Sold my H1502 to a buddy with a 3 point blower when I bought the B2601. I loved my little Bolens but I truly love my Kubota now that I have it.

The Bolens is a HT 23, so no rear PTO. It has one up front though! And the front mounted blower has served well for many many years. We get snow!

Snappy rig! Hydrostatic and all. I built a 3 point hitch a few years ago. Only thing I ever found to use it with was a single tooth ripper. Great for opening a garden, or putting in a buried cable etc. Category _O_ minus is about worthless. The B7200 with a Cat 1 runs the chipper shredder just fine, pulls a scrape blade and the box blade. Even the tip scoop bucket fits on! Front end get's light, even with full set of weights, at times.

The Kohler gas engine always starts, even at 15 below. I hear the D950 is a good starter in the cold as well. we will see. The Hurliman gets the water heater on the cold mornings.
there is a 60 inch Meteor blower on the back of that all winter. Ballast for the loader up front I suppose. ;-)

Under a heavy load, with a diesel tractor that has mechanical fuel injection, what happens is that the engine bogs down and the RPMs drop. However, the fuel rack is still wide open and the RPMs are not as fast as the engine expects...so more fuel is injected than is necessary for the engine speed...hence the black smoke. The easiest remedy is to simply slow down...use a lower gear. Now if the black smoke is something new (maybe the tractor used to go up hills without smoking) then perhaps new injectors or timing adjustment is in order.
