Back when I was 14 and got a job at a tree service…was handed a Mac 1010 chainsaw and told to get in the back of the big truck and lay down all the branches. These days they need an app to figure which way to do the LEAST amount of physical effort to do anything. Physical work these days is for the stupid people or those people not enlightened.

There's NO way I'd arm wrestle that guy on the wagon tossing hay up to the other guys !!!
There’s no shame in trying. I’ve gotten my butt handed to me as often as not. Whether I’m likely to win or not doesn’t keep me from trying like hell. But I’m a bit stubborn like that. A good challenge is good, win, lose or draw.

Things were different in those days! Maybe that is why we often say there is no common sense any more. Common sense is learned, and it's learned from making choices and evaluating that decision to continue or discontinue doing that.

We have a govt. that does all that for us now, so their is a limit to taking chances which limits the results of something we might learn.

Those were the days where if you did not work (and work hard) you did not eat..
Now we live in the welfare age where being "sad" means you get a monthly cheque.

This video is a little long but I think you guys will appreciate it. This is about logging and driving logs on rivers in upstate NY. The Gould paper company he talks about is now closed but it was a small town powerhouse paper company that folded in the 90's. The town lyons falls mentioned is where my kubota spends most of its time in the summer, and the moose river that is shown is where spend our summers relaxing.

Watching the guys move logs by hand and making them look light makes it hard to believe how much the world has changed in a short amount of time

similar here in Canada. farmed in summer. logged in winter. drove logs in spring during melt.

heres a short Cdn version.

psst: pass the potted meat before the boss returns.
