I've got a ZL2201 (L245) & being new to using these compact machines so sorry if I'm asking stupid questions.
On the lever on the right hand side of the seat there's what appears to be some mind of lock nut/stop. It has a wing nut for easy tightening /undoing & the only thing I can think it could be is some kind of stop so you can't accidentally change the position of the lever/ rear lift ams. If someone knows the purpose if this Knut please let me know. Thanks Stu

Sounds like the stop for the height control. You can adjust it so your lift arm lever will only go down to a certain level.

What he said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

allows you to hit the ol sweet spot with a tiller, hog or other implement. Allows you to lower the handle and stop on that perfect spot.

Corney, is the handle moving and creeping down? Or is it the three point hitch it self?

If it's the handle creeping down, then follow the handle down to the base. There is a nut, and a jam nut holding the arm on. There should be a couple of crush washers as well. Loosen the jam nut and tighten the other nut. Check tension on arm as your tightening the nut. When you get it to the desired tension, tighten the jam nut :D There should be enough tension to hold it in place, but still allow you to move the arm fairly easy ;)

There is a knob under your seat between your knees with a "F" & "S"
Set you height and turn this knob all the way to S (slow) and the implement should stay put. Implement can be raised but will not lower until the knob is turned toward F

In reply to Russel Kings answer. Would I be correct in thinking this knob is a valve or the flow to the hydraulics & 3pt linkage? Therefore if so would I be right assuming S =slow with F =fast ? If this is correct does this only affect the rear link arms or the complete hydroillic system?
Sorry if I ask too manny questions but I'm ok at general machanics etcbut have never worked with tractors hydroillics so this is all new to me.
I plan adding two quick connect couplings too the rear of my L245 with the intention of using it to power a post driver & maybe a hedge cutter/trimmer. Will this valve have any effect on the Q/Cs I plump in to my hydroillics?? If so I assume I would need the screw turned all the way round towards the F in order to give me the as much flow/pressure as possible to run said implements effiently. Am'I on the right lines or not with my thinking of this?
Any help please guys

The only purpose is to control the speed of three point, it doesn't do anything to the rest of the hydraulic system.
