A few years ago I paid for a purchase at Dollar General with some $2 bills. The young cashier looked them over, asked if they were 'real,' and was getting her phone out to call the police, when the manager told her that they were legal currency. Small town, I gave her a ribbing for a while after that on later visits-the police call would not have bothered me as I knew all of the police and sheriff's officers. Fun times.
