Wow , strip them of their uniform. That has to be one of the most disrespectful acts I have ever heard of. How about arm these men and women with a side arm so they can have a fighting chance. Some say it wouldn't make a difference, I beg to differ. I strongly feel these young men wouldn't have gone down without a fight. It's absolutely sickening how this country is turning out. I could have never imagined we would ever have a president that sympathized with terrorists. I'm glad I didn't vote for him.

Now, now, OldeEnglish, you know that the President will NOT allow anyone to call them terrorist. The FBI is "STILL" trying to figure out why he did it?????????? Forget that he went to Jordon with a "one-way ticket and stayed for 7 months."

Where is the problem?
You enlist in the armed forces.
You get some of the best training in the world.
You go to various places in the world fight, get wounded, even die for your country. These are some of the conditions that you agreed to when you enlisted.
You come back to America.
You become a recruiters and can not wear a uniforms in public because it is to dangerous.
The streets of America are more dangerous than a war zone.

Let them carry weapons and do what they have trained for. Let them take care of the scum you don't want on the soles of your boots.

You would be surprized at how many shooting happen on our military bases and word never gets off base. I was at FT Hood and we were getting ready to leave and the words were he's got a gun and then it sounded like firecrackers going off. Someone went off the deep end and went down the row of trucks shooting at anything. I became part of the truck between the rear duels and after it was over I had gained a lot more respect for the 5000 gal tanker I had on the back as sever bullets hit it and never went thru it. Had they went in it I would not be here today and a lot of other people would not be. There were 40 trucks sitting here with tank trailers that had been hauling JP 4 for the airbase there. We were told before hand had one of these blown up it would cause a chain reaction and the town of Killean Tx would be no more

To take of the uniforms would be an act of letting the Terrorist Win. Not acceptable in my book.

I say opposite. Every military person active and retired in the country should start wearing their uniform EVERY DAY.... millions of uniforms walking around doing every day things. Being Nice to neighbors, cutting hair in the barber shop, Giving sermons, performing Surgeries, being fire fighters and school teachers. Regular ol' everyday kind normal people making it damn harder to be demonized by terrorist or by a mental ill suffering rouge person.

PS- Dress Uniforms and Full Dress would be best.

coechgeo, I like the idea, but I don't think my dress blues would shine after a day in the transmission shop. It just infuriates me that they can come over here, enjoy all the freedoms that are no other place in the world and then kill us at will. Let someone go to the local mosque and do the same thing and see what happens!!!!

This happens because we let it happen.

Votes have consequences.

It may take a war here to get the ignorant Americans to see the error of their ways.

Well, intolerance has its price. Every time some collectivist wants something freedom folks don't, the freedom folks are intolerant.

Every time the freedom folks want something the collectivists don't, the freedom folks are stupid, ignorant and uneducated (note those concepts are all related and subjective).

So, one side controls the debate... entirely. While I'm not sure it will result in war, it certainly will result in a defining series of incidents that will force the country to re-examine the path it is on.

One of the concerns of the founding fathers was that we have government by the people and not by aristocracy. While we don’t have an aristocracy by heredity we have our own brand of aristocracy by political party. The politicians have different laws and benefits, and selectively choose to ignore the laws the rest of us must live by. They work for the big money paid by the special interests and not the ones who pay taxes, fight their wars, and vote. We like to feel we are doing our part by voting to hold them accountable, but we really have no meaningful choices (House of Tudor: White or Red aristocrats – Democrat or Republican aristocrats).
The political aristocrats may argue, fight, and stonewall on what’s best for the country, but they always manage to do what’s best for the political aristocracy.

That's something of a tempest in a teapot. I'm a life member of the NRA and as long as it's done properly, it's not necessarily a bad thing. If they made each County/City empanel 3-5 professional psychological evaluators and they'd have to agree about the lack of mental security of the individual, then they could redistribute the firearms to others in the family who can competently manage them.

Should the state be able to take them outright, no. A just due process must be used.

Should the state keep the firearms, no. They are property and must be dealt with accordingly. If the condition is temporary, they must be returned once the condition passes. If permanent, treat it like the person has passed on (only so far as the firearms are concerned) and consult the will, etc.

Personally, I think all these rules belong at the local level, not the Federal level. Peoples friends and neighbors know far more about what is going on than Washington, DC does. I wish the Feds would restrict themselves to the Constitutional powers they have and let the local governments handle just about everything else. That way we can pick a community that we want to live in and all be happy.

I agree that it maybe such now, so was whats his faces health care if you remember and look what happened. This same thing as you recall was attempted by the VA a while back and they were soundly slapped in the face with it. While I think as you have stated that this is a state call and not a Fed call, see they have the last word on many things that should be controlled by the state. A tempest in a tea cup maybe, however in this world they have a way of getting out of hand

No disagreement from me, which is why I had the caveat of "if it's done right".

The issue we currently have is that people accept that it 'has to be done', even if it's not done right. That is the exact opposite of what the founders said.

Their belief was, don't do anything that isn't done right. There were almost exceptions to that, slavery being on that list, but they knew that some level of change in the mindset of the people had to happen first before they could 'do it right', but notice they left it pretty much alone because they couldn't do it right so it shows how much they believed in the leave it alone principle.

Nowadays it's 'something has to be done' and then they trample all over everyone's freedoms to do just that.

And people wonder why this is such a great sit to visit,,,
I have been on many sites, none of them, that displays the broad spectrum of minds and ideas expressed in here.
All of which are presented in a forward way with no disrespect toward anyone or their ideas,,, It is refreshing to say the least
And the tractor stuff is really good too :D
