What's needed to hook up a shut off solenoid

Have a project engine and need to know how to hook up a 2 wire fuel stop solenoid. The one is obviously a ground. Could the other be feed from a +12V with a momentary switch? Press until the engine dies? Or is it hot while it is running?

On a RTV1100 3 cyl diesel engine it is 12v power pull the plunger back to allow fuel to flow and when no power it moves inward to stop fuel.

Not the same engine, but probably the bases for how they all work. No 12v power no go.

Fail safe.
