I watched the breadmaker spit out another loaf of sesame bread. Made with 100% solar electric this time.

The first 2 years my wife and I lived together we lived on Salisbury steaks😀. We bought tubs of frozen Banquet Salisbury steaks with gravy at shoprite for 99 cents a tub that was several pounds 😲. We started out poor and she couldn't cook so consumed a lot of Barcadi 151 to get them down that was the most expensive part of the meal 😬. We have come a long way since.
LOL. That's hilarious!

The banquet brand salisbury steaks is the EXACT reason we make salisbury steaks today. It is what my wife grew up eating.

And because my mom wouldn't buy nothing like that or anything in a fancy box, I always give my wife a hard time that they were living high on the hog buying fancy meals like that and what not LOL.

Heck, I still like those Ramen noodle soup packet things occasionally on a cold day.....;)
As do I. We have a habit of taking basic easy recipes and draggin them out to eternity though.

Started doing ramen a few years ago. I take 6 of the 15 cent packets. Set the flavor packet aside. Loads of garlic, ginger, shallots, miso paste, chili paste, a good stock and whatever the heck you want to consume with it.

15 cents and 2 minutes completely out the window. LOL

I either do a chicken version with a bunch of thighs or a steak version with a couple flanks.

Last one was a steak version.

I did use worcestershire in this. Always loved that stuff. Never thought about nutmeg before, i'll definitely try that next time.

I have not ventured off into pasta making YET. Although I feel the time is rapidly approaching. My pops makes pasta on a regular basis. Still makes my grandma's tortellini as well. He has this awesome board in his kitchen that pulls out from one counter and latches over to another. It's his "pasta station".

Its slightly intimidating to me. Especially considering portion sizes. To try and figure out how many individual tortellini to make for 5 of us. Anxiety! LOL

Pappardelle is our default pasta for a main dish. I don't usually use spaghetti. And if the pasta is being served as a side dish, i'll typically use angel hair. I also like to use mafaldine pasta for a lasagna soup recipe we make often. If my pops doesnt make pasta fresh, he ALWAYS defaults to penne.
Someday, try pappardelle.

Better yet maybe try raviolis. Easy.

You can get very creative with fillings and sauces, and you don’t need any fancy implements to cut them out. Cut them square with a knife or use a glass to make them round.

(The Mrs. has a bunch of round nested plastic biscuit cutters of various sizes that would work. Even fluted on one side).

Man that ramen looks fantastic! Sister-in-law gave us a pint of miso she made and this would be another perfect use...

Not much time for posting or following along lately, but a man's gotta eat. Fired up a couple sizable local raised ribeyes tonight, and the wife made a nice salad with lettuce and radishes from the garden. She butters her steaks.

I have to assume you meant 15# not 15’

John - -

That's got to be 15-20# of shoulder? How long does it take to smoke something like that?

You do a great job with the smoker - - always looks super!

Congratulations to the Graduate, and hoping Ohio has good weather for the festivities on June 7th! ;)

Pretty simple on a chilly day.

Spags and balls.

@BBFarmer - while the sauce and meatballs are made here, the spaghetti comes from Aldi…..😉

We often watch cowboy kent rollins cooking channel on the youtubes. This is one of his recipes that the youngins requested today. Called upside down pizza.

Had a bunch of potatoes left over so used them as a side. Pretty odd combo with this dish but it'll eat. Did them twice baked

Morning Update. They hit the break at 7:15. Sneak peak, wrapped and off to 190 where they will be pulled and rest for 2 hrs before pulling. Probably another 2 to 2.5 hrs on the smoker

Good stuff! I love being challenged by what's on hand. Some of my favorite meals.

We showed up late last night to off grid place during massive storms, only to find the power out until early AM. Creeks out of their respective banks etc.

Wife had to leave for society this evening so I scrounged myself together a pulled pork succotash over a piece of seared tuna. From random items in the freezer.
