1st step... look and print out all the drivetrain 'drawings' for both your model and the 4wd 'donor'.
Check part numbers between them.Highlight common(same) parts in GREEN highlighter pen, different in RED.
Obviously you'll need front axle (maybe steering stuff ?) , 'tranny' stuff where front driveshaft goes in, etc.

It could be an interesting project ,though I don't know if it's cost effective and what kind of time is required., let alone POSSIBLE ???

I'm not sure if it's even possible. I think the transmission/case/frame castings are different. There are so many differences between the two models that the kubota parts website asks you if it's 2WD or 4WD before you can view any exploded views. Even if you were able to pull it off, there is no way it would be cheaper than selling your 2WD and buying a 4WD.

Don't really want to sell it yet. Have also been looking for a 4wd hst with a blown motor. Then I could just swap engines. But no luck on that either so far.

I think if you had a 4WD donor machine with the parts you needed, it would make more sense to move the good bits from your existing machine to the donor machine.

Ultimately when you take two tractors and make them into one, you can decide for yourself which is the one you're saying you kept......but in terms of work, you'll be taking the transmission and presumably most of the rear end from the 4wd, plus the front axle and some bits and pieces. The middle comes from the 2wd. In a sense you're splitting both tractors, putting the 4wd rear on the 2wd front, and then adding the 4wd front axle and components.

Was any of that useful to you? Probably not. But it's how I think about it. Still leaves you needing a 4wd donor machine, which it sounds like you don't have.

It's not really feasible to take a 2wd and make it a 4wd, there are a lot of parts that need to cross over, Including the steering column and steering linkage.
And no a B8200DT (geared drive) 4wd parts will not swap over to a B8200HST.

It will take more money and more time than you are willing to spend

Heck, I'd love to know WHERE you COULD find 30-35 year old parts for them !
Even the local K dealer scraps 'old' stuff. One day saw 8-10 'HST units' in the pile, wondered what I could do with them, they went to China.....

thanks for the info. so best option i have is to find a 4wdhst with a blown motor and swap motors. or buy a whole new to me tractor then sell mine.

I think you would save money by selling yours and buying a used 4wd tractor maybe even a new one.

As my dad would have said "just lift up the radiator cap and drive a new tractor under it" Easy fail safe option.
