I need something that is offset that I can mow around a 1 acre pond and also be used to mow the ditch by the road.

It seems like ditch bank mowers are only for larger tractors. What are my options? I’m looking at purchasing a MX5400, 46 pto hp and around 4500 to 5000 lbs with loader I would assume.

There are many flail mower options out there that can be offset for ditches etc. Than moved back to center for regular mowing duties. here are a few examples starting from 48" (so, not just for large tractors). scroll down the page and you'll find hydraulically off set and ditch bank mowers.

I've also seen rear finish mowers (powered units) towed behind atv's in an off set position.

sickle bar mowers were kinda designed for that purpose. Usually get them for $50-$100 as no one today knows what they're for..

Here's an interesting option, there is a similar product called a Lane Shark, your MX loader will handle either of these and you have above the recommended tractor weight. If I was buying one I would OPT for the separate hydraulic rear PTO pack.

Laneshark, I have one on my new MX5400 HST, works fantastic for what you are looking to do. Also will turn vertical to cut your fence rows, trails, etc... Does not need the extra tank on the 3pt hitch like the TrailBlazer. I considered both when I bought the lane shark. Also the Trail Blazer you can buy now, is always offset to the right, no way to bring it inline with the tractor like the lane shark.

What I have seen on video of the Lane Shark neat looking unit. I use a Phoenix offset ditch bank flail mower on a L6060 cab tractor with fel. Works good for me. Would like it better if it had more offset to the right for cutting the more vertical pond or ditch bank. Sloped ones is easy.
