Just wondering if a 6' tiller behind my L3901 is too much, Would I be better off with a 5 ' tiller. Also I believe a 5' tiller should stay within my back tire width Hopefully. Any feedback and suggestions would be great, I want to purchase one in the next few days. Thanks everyone

I run a YJR062 that is 62" wide from Everything Attachments on my L3901, I think it’s a great fit, the next width up is an 84” and calls for a minimum of 40 pto HP.
I looked far and wide and made my decision based on quality and I liked the fact that it would fit both Cat I and Cat II as I also have a larger MX tractor. I really like the quality of this unit, I feel I have ample power with this size of tiller and can run it at a reasonable speed. It makes my tractor drink fuel at a fast rate more so than any other task that I use my L3901 for, I don’t think my tractor would do well with a larger unit unless I ran it slower and shallower. Overall a good fit for my L3901.

My L2501 ran a 5 foot tiller very nicely. So I am sure the L3901 could run the 6 foot tiller with no problem. How ever there are a few things to think about: 1) how much land are you going till, 2) the bigger tiller will cost more money and 3) the 5 foot tiller will be more marketable when you go to sell it. Just because there seams to be a lot of the compact tractors big enough to run it.

I'm just going to keep a very large garden tilled. I have been using a 32 year old troybilt horse but at 72 years old I like using my kubota more than fight the Horse
Now that's a plan. LOL. I have invested in a grapple, 6' rotary mower, 6' box blade, the tiller will come in handy. The 5' might fit my needs more than the 6' tillerI just looked at your profile. I am in Wesley Chapel. So buy the 5 footer so I can borrow it.

I have a little 5 foot disk. Call me and I will come and disk up the garden for you. Are you getting ready for a fall garden?
I rented a 5 foot tiller from Sunbelt in Tampa for $85 for the day. Might save you some money and you will not have to store it.

I do a lot of tilling in NH. I use a 5' LP unit with my B2650 and it is just right.
The ground makes a world of difference. Virgin ground AAGR is nasty and smaller is better.
Working last years garden is a breeze and bigger is better.

I've got a L3901 and I just picked up a nearly new / used Land Pride 58". I was going to buy a RK 60", but found this one for the same price (before tax), and the reverse rotation should be nice. I think the manual calls for a max of 54", but take that for what it's worth. Like mentioned earlier, I would consider soil condition over HP suggestions. If you're in good dirt, I wouldn't hesitate to run a 72". For me, the 58" should work just fine.
I agree that soil condition is the most important factor, secondly is your expectation of speed and depth of tilling.
Based on the manual the implement recommendations are the same for the L3301 and the L3901, what made us both opt to buy a L3901 .....lol

I purchased a 5' tiller from Tractor Supply back last winter and have used it quite a few times behind my 3901. The width and weight of the tiller seem perfect. Very happy and would buy it again tomorrow. I have used it on previously tilled areas as well as clearing out some old briar growth in areas that not been touched in 30 years by anything other than cows. Get the 5' and save some bucks.
Running a Land Pride RTR1266 on my L3560. Works great with no apparent struggle from a power standpoint. Agree, soil, speed, depth most important considerations.
