This bolt was very loose, actually both of them were loose I noticed this one always had some oil buildup while the other didnt. They both were loose and I was wondering if they had to be tightened down?
What loose bolt is this on my L175 valve cover?

Pretty sure those are the bolts for the valve cover, the metal washer like goodies should have a rubber grommet under them that act like a gasket.. they are probably worn out and have shrunk and or can have cracks in them

I agree with tractor joe. I do not see any oil on the valve cover. If you are not washing the engine off regularly that would be a sign the the bolts/washers are tight enough and you have no worries. If you have been washing off the engine give them a tug. Would never hurt to pull one off and inspect the washer.
Probably got "loose" because the rubber grommets dried out. The bolts will only go soo tight because of them being shoulder bolts I think.
Yep, those are valve cover bolts. I'd get some new rubber washers (might have to buy the whole bolt and washer as an assembly) and replace them, very soon. You don't want your valve cover to be loose. It might just be holding on due to the gasket getting stuck in place. Sooner or later that will give out and you'll have oil all over the place.
Don't think you'll lose much oil from the top of the bolts. Might need to snug them down a couple degrees of a turn if the valve cover gasket is letting oil past, but if you don't have oil slobbering on the engine, you're fine.
So the rubber gaskets are very dry and brittle under those metal tabs. Is there a replacement number for these?

Awesome thanks for that part #, on messicks they have it showing up but the gaskets a lot thicker than whats on it. Is that how it was originally?
