What is this switch for?

Hi Kubota brothers,

A few weeks ago I found this switch tucked under my loader control. I turned it on and off and it didn’t do anything, so I tracked it to this. What do you reckon it was for? I bought this machine used and the best I can tell is it was used for snow removal, because of the rust at the ends of the loader arms. I’m in NC, so maybe it came out of the mountains. Is it something related to a snow removal attachment? Just spit ballin on my guess.

Looks like for a aftermarket light bar or similar led type light setup.

I bet it bypasses the seat switch so you can stand up and see the end of your forks while moving under a load without the tractor shutting off.

That switch is taped down with e tape.

My best guess considering a 40amp rated relay wired in by the battery, either a lot of extra lights but possibly more likely an electrically operated chute rotator?

That switch is taped down with e tape.

It would be easy enough to test it out and see if that's what it does.

I wouldn't be concerned with the 40 amp rating on the relay most people just use what ever they have available and that lighted switch probably isn't rated more than 10 amps.

If done safely it will have a fuse sized correctly somewhere or it's just relying on the seat switch fuse..

Correct me if I am mistaken but is that not the function of a relay. So you can use low amp switches and wiring remote from the relay that then powers a high amperage draw motor or lights etc?

A switch for a light bar would be nice. I’ve driven it down the road once after dark and the headlights seemed to only be decorative.

Yeah the factory light are better than nothing but that's about it.

You need to find the other end of the wiring, that should tell you what it does.
