Yes thank you, I know how to use a map and the closest dealer is 2 hours 41 minutes away as I stated... it's a tractor, I live on a farm in northern Arizona, it's not a yard tractor and I live in Phoenix like your map seems to imply I do and can almost walk to a dealer.
View attachment 154472
I feel your pain, the kid lives in Twentynine Palms, and the closest is about 80 miles away about 2 hours, so you got most of a day shot in the arse out and back , IF you dont run in to some of those rumdumbs on the road

That's great for you who has a dealer "that you drive past." My local dealer dropped Kubota so I had to drive 1+ hour round-trip to get to the next closest dealer.

I have no problem with anyone charging reasonable shipping but I think this thread was started about unreasonable shipping. In my case, the issue came with the $20 increase in cost to add 4 small rubber seals to a box that already had 5gal of SUDT2 in it.
Yup, almost three hours for me… everyone thinks it’s so easy to just drive by your dealer, farms aren’t in the city folks..

There are dealers closer than Messick was my point.
While a 6 hour round trip is not ideal it's still cheaper the $250 in shipping.
But if you value your time and want to avoid the trip pay the price!

I live a couple of states over from Messick's and just ordered parts from them. I was going to order SUDT2 from them, but the shipping quote was very high. I removed the fluid and the shipping for the parts was actually cheaper than I had expected. I tried to find a cheaper way to ship the fluid but shipping was always expensive. My dealer is about half as far as yours, but it made financial sense to just make a day trip out of it and go pick it up. I stopped by some other stores in the area to make the most of it.

If you have other farms around, maybe ask what they do? I imagine they would have the same issue. Could possibly go in on an order together and split the shipping?

Thats a dangerous playground for sure.

Last time it almost cost me $70K to play there.
Well that's a much better playground that a casino.
At least with this playground when you spend all that money, you can at least go out to the barn/garage and admire what took your money. All you get at the casino is secondhand cigarette smoke and sick feeling about all the money you lost. JMHO;)😊

Don't forget that you need 2 of the hydraulic filters, but just one of the HST filters.

The 59900 filter is for the HST. 37710 is the hydraulic filter.
A huge shout out/thank you to @#40Fan for reminding me of the 2 37710’s needed…. I was “Jack n Coke” late night parts ordering combined with having a blond moment and hadn’t ordered, (thus the above additional order)… thank you again sir!!!! People like you that try to help are what make these forums helpful… (despite I’m sure fearing the usual female response of “I know what I’m doing” lol, thanks for taking a the risk 😉).

PS, while it does not appear that these 37710 crossed Baldwins have magnets, here is another option for people to save a couple bucks. Maybe we can swap the magnets from our Kubota ones, not sure, see below…

Fast forward to the 40 second mark in this video, also detailed in his description section.

Unless I missed something your first post had (2) 5 gallons of UDT2 from Messicks. And the only from Coleman’s shows (3) 1 gallon containers of UDT2.
That’s quite a difference in weight for the shipping difference.

When you do go to change the filters, remove the fill plug and attach a vacuum. Otherwise, the 3 gallons you bought won't be enough.

Thanks, appreciate it, saw that trick on YouTube, I’m actually going to do a full fluid replacement as I had to put in some non Kubota Super UDT2 in an emergency recently and want it out of the system. I actually had already purchased 2 5 gallon buckets on the previous order (the one shown in my initials post) so this gives me 13. Coleman had a smoking deal on buying 3 vs 2 so I took the bait. They twisted my rubber arm. 😉

I'm not as fussed as some at keeping brand name fluid in. A little bit of non-SUDT isn't going to matter, I wouldn't change my whole system for that unless it was due.

My logic is that tractors are made to take implements. Rental implements, borrowed implements, implements that have sat out in the field for 6 months before you used them again. And the fluid in all those implements will mix with whatever you already have in the machine. It simply cannot be the case that Kubota are building their tractors so that they'll explode if you borrow a 3 pt implement from your neighbour who happens to own a blue or a green tractor.

If you did really want to clean your hydraulic system of the non SUDT, then presumably you have to cycle or purge your loader, your wood splitter, your rear blade and anything else that you might connect to your tractor at the same time.

I'm not necessarily saying don't do it - your tractor, you should do what you feel right. But I am saying that there are some people on this forum and others who are much much fussier about their fluids than I think can possibly be what the manufacturers expect.

A bit of "other brand fluid" is not a real big deal. Any time a hyd. implement is connected to your tractor, if the implement is not full of your brand of fluid, a bit gets mixed in. That dilution will not effect operation or life because it's a very small volume.

Great feedback, thanks for taking the time to post it. It’s due for a full flush so I might as well give her the best of the best, the cost difference is a small price to pay for my own peace of mind but generally I do agree about fluids…. Then I saw this…. FF to 5:30 mark (link below), and while I’m in the southwest and never use my M62 after it spent 5 days in the freezer, clearly (for me personally) there are enough differences to not risk fear of cavitation damage in a pump because the fluid I did use was missing an ingredient Kubota included. I’m HOURS away from a Kubota shop, any down time would pay for the difference in fluid price just in the trucking of the tractor to the shop alone. Especially given the Tractor Supply garbage (https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/p...0a-plus-utility-tractor-fluid-5-gal-vp2040114) that’s in her now, I had to use to finish a job (it was all the local ma n pa hardware store had so I bought three pails, I burst a hydraulic line so dumped lots).

I understand, that’s why I bought a bit extra…. I have a Bobcat grapple, Bobcat auger etc but they’ve not been on since this non Kubota fluid went in but I agree, you can’t get it all out but you have to start somewhere. How do you eat an elephant, one bite at a time. 🤪

That guy does not have the first clue on how to test a tractor transmission oil. Try to forget you ever saw that video.

Kubota SUDT2 has two properties that distinguish it from standard formulations.
  1. It has a slightly lower viscosity of 8.1 cSt @ 100C (KV100) and a very high viscosity index of 199. Conventional formulations which include regular UDT have a KV100 around 9.5 and a viscosity index of 135. That allows SUDT2 to flow better in extremely cold weather. Very analagous to a 0Wxx versus 10Wxx engine oil.
  2. SUDT2 can absorb more free water than standard formulations. That helps prevent the formation of emulsions, sludge, and additive dropout that can clog filters.
Wear wise ALL of the products "tested" in that video are Gl-4 level gear oils.

In summary, SUDT2 is a superior performer in cold weather and rice paddies neither of which are common in your locale. Its a little colder here in MD and I use it in my HST tractors for the same reason I use 0W40 engine oil.

My old B7200DT lived a long and happy life on Travellers Premium UTTO. Given the rate at which my G2160 has started puking SUDT2 it may soon get switched to the much less expensive brew.

Thanks Dan, great feedback, appreciate the comments and don’t disagree at all… it does freeze here but I don’t work in it… lol.
