I love Neil's Youtube videos and love to support them, much to my demise but enough's enough... how do people afford to support them with these kind of outragious prices on shipping? We all know they've been like this forever but all they're doing is chasing my business over to Coleman EVERY TIME!!! Same products, a filter and two pails of Super UDT2, $54.00 vs over $250.00 for shipping, this is crazy...

I agree their shipping costs are out of control. I wont make that mistake again.

Messick's doesn't control shipping. For fluids, it's local for me. I've found my local dealer to be reasonable, so I buy from them if I'm not in a hurry or they have it.

Neither does Coleman, but something’s suspicious….. the only explanation is shipping padding, I can get a lot bigger and/or heavier item shipped for a lot less, there’s no explanation that makes sense. Hell I had a WB 36” cemetery bucket shipped from Mass to AZ for under $150.00.

Yeah, a lot of companies think that if they just pass through shipping costs, job done, all fair. But who you pick for shipping also drives a lot of cost. When you only give one option, you can end up with pricing that's way out of line. And customers look at the total delivered cost to them, they don't see shipping as separate to the overall price.

I would suspect that the Messicks Fedex account is worth quite a bit. Telling their account manager that they're losing business and thinking about offering UPS as well might end up with a sharper price without doing any work at all (offering a second shipping option is actually a fair bit of work).

I like Neil too and think that he does a great job with all of his videos, but I understand your frustration.

I've only ever made one purchase from Messick's and that was an MX grill guard that I won at their moving auction. Shipping was reasonable for that thing at around $100, and combined with my winning bid it was well worth the time an money given the cost of a new part. That said, I would never order fluids from them, or just about anything else with shipping prices like that.

I have an excellent dealer just three miles from my house and get everything from them.

Your trying to ship fluid all the way across the country, that's expensive.
Truck freight is always cheaper on big heavy items.
Colemans is much closer to you so shipping costs would be cheaper.
Is there not a local dealer near you that you could get things like this?

Yeah, I'll second that. I get all my fluids from my local dealer. They have what I need in stock, and it's surprisingly competitive. And I figure the turnover means I continue to have a local dealer, which I sometimes actually need.

Of course, Messicks for me is halfway around the world, but same concept - I could get fluids out of Auckland, but it's not that much (if any) cheaper.

Guess I'm fortunate. 45 miles from my house to Bonner Springs, one of Coleman stores. If they don't have it they will quickly, they are 33 miles from the distribution center!

I have found the same thing. Messicks and Colemans are similar for parts prices, but Messicks shipping costs are a deal breaker. Coleman’s is a lot less expensive. Part of this is geography. Coleman’s is mid continent and Messicks is in the northeast, so shipping anywhere outside of the northeast is a long ways.

Ships for FREE if Over $100

Their prices on everything was better than anyone else I could find too.

Only drawback....it took a while before they shipped.
Great post, thank you… see, if they can ship for free, why the hell can’t Messick’s ship for at least a decent rate.. lol

Don't forget that you need 2 of the hydraulic filters, but just one of the HST filters.

The 59900 filter is for the HST. 37710 is the hydraulic filter.

The prices at Messicks are generally good. I'm fortunate to be near one of their locations and several times a week pass within 1/4 mile of it. I've seen numerous complaints about their shipping costs and am glad to have them nearby

I guess I'm lucky as well. The dealer I go to is Ginop sales in Williamsburg, Michigan. I drive right by it on our way to Traverse City. They are great folks to deal with as well. Bought all three of my Kubota's from that store. I do know there are a lot of things like motor oil and filters you can get cheaper somewhere else, but I'm a stickler on OEM replacement items.

I think their shipping calculations may be a web design issue. It may be lower if you call them but I don't bother.

Local dealers are the only way to go for fluids. They are heavy and require hazardous material shipping rates.

My Kubota dealers are about 25 miles from me. But.... the parts guy lives about a mile from me. So I call, order and tell him to let me know when he gets off the highway, I meet him (I arrive a minute before he gets there) at the post office that he passes.
I did buy a whole goods tire/rim from Messicks, with shipping it was cheaper than my dealer but I think the selling price was old/not updated.

If you want to ship anything or enter data to compare rates to you from a vendor, create a free account at Pirateship and check out the costs. I've been using them for about a year to ship metal signs I make and it's great to see my options and the cost of each major shipper.

In this case, just pretend your shipping the items to Messicks and see what it SHOULD be costing them.
