I just sold a 21 year old JD tractor. I used all purpose grease in the loader and tractor always. The loader pins were still tight and working fine when I sold it. Never any failures due to grease.

I did a search and came up with zilch . What grease are you folks using ? The manuals that I have call out for multipurpose grease . I've been using that & it's getting close to replace the cartridges in my grease guns . ON my Case 580's I was using that super sticky red Chevron grease , forgot the # . I have a grease pump that has almost a full bucket of the Chevron red & was wondering if any of you folks have been using that grease on their tractors . I have a 3301 Hst with a loader & hoe . Lubing is a lot faster with the pump .
thanks'

Any good brand name grease will suffice,, I use Lucas. But that's just my personal choice.

I don’t wear panties…but I’ve had a serious bearing failure from the use of the wrong grease on a dangerous machine.…which will definitely leave a dark spot in your panties… That’s why I care enough to offer the best info I can. ;)

It’s odd that tractor owners will made darn certain they select only the “proper” motor oil and “proper“ fuel so they won’t have an expensive failure…. yet denigrate the idea anyone would prefer to use the “proper” grease.
Proper fuel is diesel (or gas).
Proper oil is full.
Proper oil is what you have.

This method seems to work just fine in 195 total countries.

I use Lucas X-Tra HD because it is waterproof. Not only does my tractor sit outside in the weather, but also I work in wet areas some of the time.

"Grease failures" are not caused by grease......They are caused by no grease.
They can be caused by incompatible greases.

Sir, I believe that you fully understood the intent of my comment above, and I agree with your hypothetical comment.

I'm much more picky about the grease I use on the Jeep TJ and F250 favoring Mobil 1 variants, but I just buy Kubota branded grease from the local dealer for the tractors. I tend to over grease the tractors which ends up attracting a lot of dirt. I need to work on that.
