Since the Owners Manuals for the tractor and the FEL (yes each has its’ own manual) recommend different types grease for each… that’s what I use…. General Purpose Lithium for tractor (your favorite brand will be fine) and Moly for the FEL.

Which is why I will not ever own a Lube Shuttle or any other electric, pneumatic, or battery-powered grease gun because it would be prohibitively expensive and wasteful of grease changing out the grease cartridges and then clearing out the delivery-hose of the previously-used product…or…alternatively owning many hundreds of dollars of “automatic” grease-guns that require some sort of power other than my very-handy hand. (not to mention you will be “stuck” with the proprietary Lube Shuttle grease cartridges…. while any other gun will use any other brand of universally-available cartridges.)

Whatever floats your boat. Just keep up with it. Especially lower loader pins if you have a loader. Personally, water proof, high tack Rural King's brand. Grease is double fold. keeps things flowed out clean and lubed.

I went down this road... it will drive you crazy.

I use RNT on the tractor and Schaeffers 238 on the FEL.

How often do you hit the loader? 10 hours? 25 hours? Manual recommends 50... I'd rather err on the side of caution. Plan is to pump all the zerks full of new grease until all the factory stuff is gone and keep up on it regularly. I'll admit, I've been slacking with my ZTR too, I'll use a grease buster on those zerks and hit em with li400 too.

Mine has (actually had ;) ) a big sticker on it saying every 10h. LA525 OM says the same.
FWIW Going with the Lucas R&T for now.

Ill hit a couple pumps pretty much every other time. The lower pins dry out quick.

I didn't see this earlier. You make a good point regarding the proprietary cartridges. They are actually a "standard" in Europe now so getting phased out isn't an issue. I ordered one grease (Li400) that they tout as being designed for industrial, AG, and other uses so I feel it will suffice in the FEL and other components of applied regularly.

I did see that the FEL had it's own manual and the tractor had a separate one. FEL calls for moly and the tractor calls for general purpose grease. Since the nano ceramic composure of the Li400 results in similar effect as moly (coating surfaces in the pin bushings for wear reduction) and the fact that some folks here don't use moly grease on their entire unit, I think I am OK.

Regardless, if any damage occurs as a result of grease type vs abuse and over exerting the unit regularly, I'd be very surprised.

I use Red and Tacky and like it. I used to be strictly Valvoline Crimpson but for some reason that I don’t remember, I switched to R&T. I think it was availability. My Woods mower requires moly in the spindle bearings. Pick a lube and stick with it.

NAPA moly on the FEL points.
NAPA lithium based all purpose on the rest of the tractor. Moly and lithium specified in the owners manual.

I use Lucas X-tra Heavy Duty grease for everything. Has performed perfectly in all conditions. Waterproof, doesn't run when hot out +40C conditions, -25C it can still hand gun pump it through a zerk. Compatible with all common greases.
It's been 4 1/2 years using it here for all the zerks: FEL and Backhoe pins, snow blower fixed shaft bearings, u-joints of all kinds. Etc.
Everything is as solid as new.
For reference, have 820 hours on the tractor.

Same here

Although I do like bacon grease, I too use Lucas x-duty. I bought a pistol grip hand pump gun with the loc-n-lube swivel option and love it. What ever you decide on, the easier it is to use the more you'll use it, which IS the most important aspect.

I had to look for curiosity…. Loader (Quicke/ALO) says ‘universal grease’. ALO builds loaders for some OEM’s…. Can’t imagine cylinder/pins are different from one to the other for these light duty applications (CUT’s and mid sized ag tractors) Tractor says NGLI-2 or -1 (gc-lb) My local options are limited so I stick with what’s available locally and try to grease often. (Mobil ep2 red, Napa multi purpose ep).
