You lucky dog, all I have is snow, ice and mud!
That sucks! It's been really nice here for over a week, and mud is rarely a problem at my place. The dirt road below me heaves every year as winter turns into spring, and this year seems particularly bad. It's an odd feeling when a tire hits a soft spot in the road.

The dirt I was moving this afternoon is just damp and it's only 6" below the surface. That's why nothing grows well up here except Knap Weed. 😡

I have an ongoing new driveway project that is low pressure for me, and something I tinker with when I feel like it. I'll eventually get it done. This afternoon I wanted to move the big tractor to a flat spot on my driveway (which I don't have) to see if the hydraulic oil is at the correct level. On my way around the house one thing led to another, so I decided to play for a bit. That rear blade is all kinds of awesome and the M6060 is such a beast.

Just a couple of weeks ago I was pulling neighbors out of the ditch in close to 3ft of snow. What a difference a couple of weeks make.

Wow! That's looks so much better than snow. Most of our snow disappeared this week and it doesn’t look like any in the forecast next week.

Soooo I made another video just for fun really. It's gonna rain ALL week after today so I wanted scrape the driveway down because there was quite a few inches in the driveway from the wind and once it warms up, it's gonna make for a slushy mess. It's getting the time of the year where I don't care about about plowing anymore, it's all gonna melt very soon. But after a rough weekend, I just really needed to get outside and do something.

I wanted to see what the tractor would do with a snow pile that's frozen. I couldn't even break it apart with the shovel so that was kinda fun. The snow banks are completely frozen now after a couple days in the high 40s. The driveway was rough to drive on too, now it's nice and smooth for now anyways.

I've taken time off from making videos (2-3 years) so this has been getting me back into it. Even if you think I'm wasting my time doing what I'm doing. I'm just having fun and learning.

You really should consider a grill guard for your radiator.

Five inches of snow fell at the shack out in the country and instead of getting to have fun I decided to stay home with "the bug" that's taken down co-workers for a month already (I'm a hold-out) and "rest up" so I get over it. It's another one of those that settles in the sinuses until Spring, and 2-3 months of being sick doing "not much" isn't my style. I've been getting an extra 3-6 hours of sleep a day for the last three days, which when you're used to sleeping 5 hours a day total is a lot to say the least.

Fortunately I get to live vicariously through you and the pictures here, contemplating if an Grand L even makes any sense for my uses. Probably not, but it's still fun to dream.

Thank you. That gives me a good indication.
A simple U turn with the truck/trailer the other side of the flat bed could be unloaded by the SVL.

Just keep this in mind. If the primary work is in the front(materials, digging, grubbing, grapple work, rotary brush cutter, mulcher, auger, post driver etc) the skidsteer is the right piece of equipment to have. Much faster, mobility, at tasks than tractors.

Nice sunny day here at the southern compound…about 40 now headed for 53 today. We got another batch to boil so I used the forks to shuttle the evaporator out.

The pups are getting in on the action too…

I'd really like to. They are just expensive.
So is replacing the plastic parts up front...

I have a welded on one, and HD backing plates welded on attachments and still manage to damage the front twice. $360 just for the plastic mesh grill and takes about 3 hours to replace.

I plan on adding one at some point..trying to find a good one that I can bolt on. I like the 511 design guard but man they're expensive. I'm trying to find a particular design, I may have to design my own haha.

At least one of your pups has the right idea with a Kubota orange collar. 😂 Great photos and quite the process.

I'm with you. I still haven't figured out what I want to do and I'm on my third and fourth tractors, but it'll definitely involve welding rather than bolting, and plate/pipe rather than expanded steel. There are some decent designs out there but they all seem a little off to my eye. Too universal perhaps.

Yeah, he’s a big help alright.

When we are driving, he rides on the armrest console between the two front seats…just plops down and watches as we go down the road. He’s been trying to drive since he was a puppy 2 yrs ago (if you look real close he had some keys in that picture).😉

What I did to my Kubota today was adding a modification to the front axle that takes the strain out of the centre bearing (was completely worn out on my G1900, had to add a bronze bushing). I added Delrin blocks that slide along inside the front axle frame and take the steering and front wheel forces.

Also did some slieves that go over the front wheel rims for extra seal rings on the inside bearings. I believe the seal disks on the ball bearings are not good enough for a lot of dirt and water, I think the bearings got damaged, then the inner ring started turning wearing down the king pins which I have to repair now.

After 5 offerings to the god of metal spinning (metal always got too thin and was tearing) I managed to get good parts.

I had to drain some hydraulic oil out of the M6060 this afternoon. After setting it up on level ground (boards under the rear tires) I confirmed that I'd overfilled it. This is mostly down to the dipstick being virtually impossible to read. I much prefer the glass window on the MX and have never felt the need to add dye in order to see the level. If anyone has any ideas on how to make the dipstick easier to read I'm all ears. I'm thinking a flat black paint might do the trick. Or maybe some cross hatching with a fine file.

Engine oil has some color to it, and even the oil in the MX has a very slight tint to it. The oil in the M6060 is as clear as water!

Sometimes it’s easy just to lay the end of the dipstick on a clean white piece of paper towel.

You can immediately see the level of fluid, costs virtually nothing as you’ll often want to wipe the dipstick off anyway….
