Spent yesterday at a friend’s mother’s house grubbing briars and undergrowth from an area where she had a bunch of hardwoods cut about 5 years ago and and bush hogged last year. First time I towed the LX behind my F-150 on my ancient trailer. Pulled just fine, good load distribution, no weirdness, 55 mph ride down US31. Didn’t want to get on the interstate with the first trip.

Didn’t take any photos, but burned a full tank of fuel and ended up with a pile of scrub and weeds about 30 feet across and 10 feet high. Ain’t gonna burn with that much dirt in it, but should make some dandy compost

Today, I modified a County Line subsoiler to work with my HaulMaster quick hitch. I found the specs for different category hitch configurations and found out the HaulMaster was designed for Cat 3 implements on a Cat 2 hitch. I had a mix of Cat 1 and 2 stuff that was a PITA to use the QH with. What’s the point in having a quick hitch if only 2 out of 5 implements work on it. So I reconfigured the implements I could to Cat 3 dimensions and modified the ones I couldn’t. Most had Cat 1 top and lift pins, so I got a bunch of bushings from TSC (where the missus works now) to make all of them fit the Cat 3 hooks on the QH. Except for the landscape rake, now I can hook up all of my implements without leaving the seat. The rake has a built in kick stand that I have to stow before it can be used.

First snowfall make it a damn good one. Used the lx with snow pusher and rear blade. Love the skid shoes on snow pusher can leave a couple inches get a base going

Not much to report. After putting the mowers and trimmers to bed for the winter (oh, and some deer fencing) I decided to whack a few crummy trees. My burn piles are growing. I think the burn ban will be lifted soon (if not already).

All in all, it was still nice to get outside for two days...I'll take it.

This season’s first load of firewood headed to the house. One more load and the little pile on the left side of the pic will be gone. It’s three years old, so about time. Two year old/one year old pile is off screen to the left. It should be plenty for this year.

Once the older little pile is gone, will work up the logs in the foreground and see how much more we’ll need to round out next year’s supply.

I was in a rush to get the driveway cleared this afternoon so no photos, but first snow blow and push of the season with the MX. It's horrible, heavy, wet stuff and the ground isn't frozen yet so just about the worst kind of snow to have.

That's how most of last winter was here. Sometimes I was moving as much gravel as I was snow. Hope we have a good freeze before we get any accumulation.

I finished the 50 hour service on my "new to me" L2501 since previous owner didn't do that. I found some free plastic pallet/skids today to put some of the attachments on so I can move them around. Learning how to use the forks, man it's tough. I can't see anything. But I managed and was able to find a spot for them to hang out together during winter. I got the snow plow on and serviced that. Not sure when I'll need it though. But not sure I'll like plowing with the tractor either, it's a lot different than the side by side. Some people make it look so easy! I'm considering figure out the best angle I want the plow to be and adjust the level indicator so I can at least go by that.

Tomorrow I might get my other pallets out and practice. I'm struggling with the loader controls to be honest, I know it's going to take time but I can't believe how fast the hydraulics are even at idle haha. I have to find that sweet spot. The hardest part for me is doing the two functions at the same time like booming down and curling or dump at the same time at a slow precise rate.

I never used a tractor like this before so it's very intimidating, even just driving it around it's a lot different than like my side by side. It's more along the lines of a riding lawn mower but on a much bigger and heavier scale and boy...you feel it.

Time. patience with yourself, and practice is all it takes. You will learn to love and appreciate your tractor. On your plow angle - make your FEL boom and curl settings so that the plow stays flat on the road when you angle it and mark those settings. If you don't have it right one corner of the cutting edge will want to dig in and the other lift when you angle it. I'm saying this with no knowledge of what you have for a plow, so use common sense. My plow is sensitive to both boom height and curl. The A frame has to be parallel to the road surface. I mark the level indicator with aluminum tape and black heat shrink for the curl setting and I made a boom height indicator with some fiber glass snow stake pieces on magnetic mounts from Harbor Freight.

I used and abused the ole B over the weekend. I saw an ad for free red and white oak on Marketplace and jumped on it after finally convincing the wife to at least supplement, if not fully heat, with wood and picked up an insert last weekend. A storm came through back in September and tore up the southern end of my county. These people had a land clearing company come and clean up the fall and stack the rounds. Most were 10-15 feet long and 12-24" round.

The pictures were a little deceiving and I thought no problem with the tractor, 2 loads with a dump trailer, and my car trailer, I was mistaken! We did two large dump trailer loads, a load on my car trailer and there are still easily 4+ loads available. I have plenty of wood for my brother and I though, not sure if I'll go back to get more. The trees are at the back of their property and had to navigate around a barn, a hill, and their septic field so it took a little more time than I'd like to devote to it.

Now to fire up the saws and get a splitting party going.

Man I'm so jealous of y'alls cooler weather coming in. In Mississippi, sometimes we drag summer right into Christmas.

It was cold (low 40s) a couple of days ago, cool yesterday, and now back hot today.

The leaves have started falling though, so atleast there's that.

And yesterday might have been the last cut for the berries......we shall see


I'm just ready for it to cool down a bit. AND STAY COOL!

I made mine so the plow mounts like on a truck and floats with a chain. I set the push plate back under the SSQA plate to get the blade as close as possible to limit the side thrust when angled. More work and material but it works very good. Can even back drag with it.

That's a great looking mount you made up there @g_man . I hadn't considered offsetting the mount to go underneath like that. I like your thoughts of being able to back drag and shortening up the whole rig.
I am planning the have a offset back blade to help "wing it" out a little wider. So the side thrust may turn into and issue as well.

This thing is a beast. Maybe overkill for my property haha. But couldn't pass up on the price.

I can't believe how rugged this plow is, I guess it needs to be for the tractor. Wish it had hydraulics but it only takes a couple seconds to jump off and change the angle when needed. Most of the time I leave it angled anyways when I was plowing with the side by side.

A summit 3rd function kit for your tractor is reasonably priced and pretty straightforward to install. You could even "piece it together" on your own to save even more. Then pick up a hydraulic cylinder and you're good to go.

By tipping your blade back a little you will allow the shoes to better do their job for early season plowing. If you tip it forward the cutting edge of the blade will be cutting into your gravel.
Once everything gets frozen down it may not be much of an issue, but when the ground is still soft the cutting edge can gouge the ground fairly easy.

It's been raining all day today, but I had some stuff come in. I ordered a rubber flap for the snow plow. I had the same Kolpin rubber plow flap on the side by side's plow and it worked amazing. it really helped from snow going over the plow. So I got that installed today.

And I'm also trying out these magnetic mirrors. They were only $29 and they stick really well. Not sure if they'll be useful when plowing but when I'm out near the road it might be worth having on but I am not sure if I'll even use them, figured I will give it a try. When I am wearing the hood of my winter jacket, I can't see well behind me so these might be perfect for that.

I have a bunch of stuff coming from Messicks tomorrow, so I'm excited for that. Ordered the rubber floor mats, the right fender handle and some Kubota key chains lol. The next thing I need to do is wiring in some LED work lights.

Here's a funny story. When I was using the tractor yesterday, I kept hearing a rattling noise. I couldn't figure out what it was. There was nothing loose that would make that sound. Later when I was in the garage doing something help, I happened to notice something in one of the holes on the floorboard. It was a dang 14mm socket that had to have been there for a long time. Wasn't mine! Got it out with the magnet and no more noise! It would have been funnier if it was the infamous 10mm socket
