Freebie post excavation cleanup job. Did it for free, but it led me to land another easy-peasy NOT FREE job from the homeowner.

So, it will have been well worth it (I hope anyway).

After clearing downed trees from one of my trails they were heavily rutted from the LX. It has been too wet to deal with so the trail was still unusable. There were still some damp areas but we’ve had a warm/dry week with rain expected tonight so I figured I’d give it a shot.

I have only used my box blade to prep flat areas for planting or to do some modest yard leveling so I’ll call myself a novice. With the tines down I was hooking on too many large roots so that option was out. Just the 515 pounds of the blade itself had to do the work. After a few tweaks of the top link I found the sweet spot and it made pretty quick work of it. It’s not perfect but the ruts are gone (many spots were a foot deep) and I’ll have to wait for the clay heavy soil to completely dry out before final leveling.

I was in too big of a rush before sunset to take many pics.

I am joking about selling the tractor, but old age is taking its toll on my body. I need 2 knees and 2 hips, and 1 shoulder repair. Does anyone have some spare parts that I can have? Every time I see another doctor I learn more about my body that has been withheld from me in the past. It is really depressing to learn how old I really am. I still have a mind of a 40-year-old, but a body of a 100-year-old. Just started another new medication today, and I was depressed when I made the original post. I am over it now!

Wish I could help DustyRusty! Got both hips done over 20 years ago and seven years later the right shoulder all titanium and ceramic! Soon Ill be ready for round two on the hips! Im only 60....sheesh. Doc said I should get 20 to 25 years out of the hips depending what I did for a living! Yeah..I abused the hell out of them. I was only 38 when I got the first hip done, Dusty If your health is good I say GO FOR IT!

I'm ready, but doctors move on their own schedule, and I think that golf takes priority in their lives. So many of my doctors have retired, there is definitely a shortage of them today. I can honestly say that I don't blame them because they like the rest of us can catch Covid, and it is a death sentence in many cases. I believe that their thoughts are to get out and eliminate the risk, by reducing the exposure. I got my 4th Covid vaccine on Thursday and I know that it might not protect me against some strains of the disease, but hopefully, it will protect me from getting severely sick should I contract it.

I hear you! Many of us wake up every day with aches and pains and we didn't get them throwing a ball around for millions of dollars. Such is life. I don't know about you but having tractors and wanting to enjoy them for years to come makes me want to be as healthy as possible for as long as possible.

I hope you feel better this weekend and buy a bunch of green bananas!

Did a bunch of mowing. Hadn't mowed in three weeks and with the rain and the heat, everything decided it really need to grow. Had to stop twice to clear the screens. Also, found an old dead tree had to decided to come down in one of the storms, so spent about 30 minutes grappling and cleaning that up.

Took pictures, but my phone and I aren't seeing eye to eye right now so I can't get the pictures over to my laptop.

No heavy tractoring today but it was still an important part of the activities. Wife decided our indoor cat needs to be able to go outside but only into a screened enclosure. So she bought this cat enclosure to put in front of one of the basement windows. Put it together in the basement this morning while it was raining.

The Kubota served as a big wheelbarrow while I leveled a spot with a rake and shovel for the pressure treated mud sill foundation.

After the mud sill was in place forked the enclosure from the basement to the window. Good thing I had the boxblade on for ballast. That thing weighed at least 50lb. Just no way for one person to pick it up without breaking it.

Done, including a little ditch to direct water away from the enclosure.

Got my bx2380 yesterday (Friday the 13th). Pulled out 5 stumps with the loader. Ended up getting her stuck in a ditch. Had to get my ATV to rescue. I have lawn tires.

Mowed the yard for the second time this year, and cleaned up around the septic tank where I had to dig up the lid to get it pumped for the first time in 15-20 years. (I live alone most of the time.)
Digging up the tank lid was one of those times I wish I had a backhoe on my BX. I ended up digging a hole 2 feet deep, 2 1/2 feet wide and 6 feet long to find the lid, since I buried it 48 years ago. I put a riser on the tank so access will be as simple as removing three screws in the cover at ground level the next time I get it pumped.

Finally got the right lights on the rear of the cab, so now it lights up a LOT of area at night. Trying to figure out where it mount the sprayere control box in the cab. I don't want to drill any holes in anything to mount it, so finding the right place to velcro it in place. The rest of the day was spent rebuilding the sprayer cart. Finally ripped the axle off and moved it to the rear after all these years of thinking about it. Built a new boom and laid out all the controls, but have the wrong sized fittings for the valves, so have to go get those and a new tire tomorrow, then reassemble everything so I can put it to work, then figure out a way to carry my 25 gallon atv sprayer and try to find the power cord for it so I can spot spray the weeds.

Checked trails yesterday.

Found the top of this big maple across one trail. It hit a limb on another one coming down and stripped a couple of small trees.

So after sharpening 6 or 8 chains, Katy took the saws and me to the site. She mostly just sat there on her big fat 15-19.5 rears while I worked, but at least she wasn't drinking $6 diesel.

After a few hours, the top blocking the road was cleaned up. The main trunk is still across the stream. I think it'll just stay there.
