And then I got all three tractors lined up for a family photo. The MX6000 open station was sold a couple of months ago but I'm keeping it in the garage for the new owner. It makes for a nice photo to have all three lined up.

I removed the factory bolt on cutting edge from the MX bucket (center) last year and bolted on an EA Wicked tooth bar. I was going to cut up (use for steel targets) or sell the factory bolt on cutting edge but guess what I'm going to do with it now? Yep! I'll use the mag drill to cut 11 holes in the M bucket and bolt that sucker on. I'm a pack rat with steel and for good reason!

Thanks! It's a bit of a beast. After I got the wheels mounted and the nuts torqued I spent some time in the M moving dirt and it's such a different animal compared to the MX but I think it compliments the MX well. I still haven't got the hang of the shuttle despite having driven manual tranmission vehicles my entire life. I keep wanting to push the clutch in but I'm trying to train myself to move the shuttle to neutral rather than depress the clutch.

Here's photo showing the M working, and a couple more photos showing the size difference. I have to say, I'm loving this combination of tractors and I'm done for the next 10 years at least. I can get so much done and be much more efficient doing it with two rather than one.

I still think the MX is a big and extremely capable tractor! Oddly enough the open station model seems bigger to me than the cab model when I'm on it.

Thanks, will report back this week. Most of my accessible stump removal went well so now I just need to tie a chain around a large stump/rootball and move it out of the woods we're I can get to bucket to it.

Pulled out the giant stump, had to maneuver around some pine trees that likely scratched up my hood. Used the bucket chains to slowly back up and pull the stump into an opening where I could use the bucket to scoop it up. Moved it to the front of my property for now until I get access to the dump trailer again. I really need to buy my own... Problem is, I don't think the Kubota will fit in a 12' 12k gvwr dump trailer but I'll have to look through the trailer thread again to confirm.

Also had some problem buckthorn saplings that I couldn't yank out of the ground. Persuaded them out with the FEL yesterday by driving into the mound slowly and tilting the bucket up to pull the roots out. Some bucket teeth would have helped immensely here. Got a chance to play around with the float function a bit and back dragged the dirt pile I made and finish raked it for a smooth transition.

Mowed with the BX2360 for second time this season. Kept a close eye on the heat gauge. Acted normal, and moved out of expected range.

Mowed first time Saturday, and within 10 minutes, needle was just shy of RED HOT..

Been here before. Grabbed IR laser thermometer. Both radiator hoses were about 106 degrees F. Thermostat?!? …. Block was 140 or so….. not even up to operating temperature yet…..

Radiator and screen were just cleaned that morning.

Tinkered with connection on sending unit. Felt loose and a little cruddy. Cleaned it and tightened female side of spade connection with a squeeze by hand. Wonder if that connection gets loose from vibration on starts and shut-down….

Seems to have taken care of it. This has happened several times in 9 years.

I always assume the tractor is overheating when the gauge spikes, but for me it’s been a funky connection.

I have the part numbers for the sending unit, thermostat and gasket, but so far think I’d be replacing good parts.

I don't think a 'normal' loose connection would cause your symptoms. As the temperature rises, the resistance of the sensor decreases, allowing more current. A loose connection would increase the resistance and make the gauge read low, not high.

I notice gunk on the sensor. Is it possible that there's coolant seeping out when you start the engine onto that salty gook and giving a low resistance to ground? I'd clean the top of the sensor and watch to see if it gets damp. If it's leaking, that could be the source of that powdery looking stuff.

If you can measure it, the sensor resistance should be about 220 ohms cold, 70 at the bottom of the red, and 3 at max temp.

Last year I replaced the MX cutting edge with a Wicked tooth bar from EA so it was serendipitous that the new bucket didn't have a bolt on edge.

Drilling one 9/16" hole through 5/8" plate with a hand drill isn't much fun, but drilling eleven holes would be miserable. It would be next to impossible to keep all the holes perpendicular to the mounting surface which would result in alignment issues. I can't say enough good things about the Hougen magnetic drill. I've used it on numerous projects and it's a game changer.

Here's the before, during and after. All eleven holes lined up nicely with the holes in the cutting edge so a shout out to measure twice, drill once. The bottom of the bucket looks warped in the last photo but I think it's an optical illusion.

I drove it over to a friends house who was digging new deck footings and put the pry bar through the septic outlet. Dead center of the last hole. He was beat from digging all day so I swung by to open up the hole a little so he could put a repair in place.

Hougen drills are awesome and reasonably priced. I bought the optional chuck that allows me to run standard drill bits too. I use the Hougen on my steel welding table as a drill press sometimes. I have a Delta drill press that I bought from Home Depot about 6 years ago but it's a POS to be honest. I should have bought a JET, or better yet a bigger Hougen and made a stand to run it as a press. Live and learn.

I'm sure the JD guy got a laugh out of me dragging the stump behind the tractor although I wouldn't of minded having his pulling power. It is nice soil with very few rocks.

Put 10 more spirea's in a bed I had worked on last year. Added a lower row to fill out the bed. Now just need to rake it out and add more mulch.

I had ripped out the junipers that the deer had killed but there were plenty of roots left beneath the surface. The stump bucket is becoming my favorite implement This makes about 50 plants I put in so far this spring. Between the roots and rocks (that bed is on 'fill' for the driveway) it's a backsaver!

My 511 grill guard took a hit or two at some point today. It got pushed in a good 2.5-3" but saved the grill. Money well spent in my opinion.

I noticed today that mine has taken a hit as well but is only bent in about an inch near the bottom. While I think it was worth it I also know that I am less concerned of real damage so I’m less careful. Too late now.
