well, short version is that the new Kioti knob is installed...I was hoping that it would help when my wife carts me around in the cherry picker for tree trimming to see which way to pull the knob (now, I'm afraid she'll just dump me out of the cherry picker for spite).

Long version is that I created quite the kitchen catastrophe when the bottle of Gorilla glue that I so carefully microwaved to get it flowing again, shot hot glue all over my kitchen sink, window and window sill and trim. I was squeezing the bottle to get the liquid glue to rise to the top so I could add a little to the knob install when it blew. What a friggin' dumba$$.

What a fine way to spend our 26th anniversary evening...panic stricken trying to get glue off of our kitchen. Looks like I'll be doing some sanding/tongue oiling ...as soon as my fingers become unglued.

At least it didn't get me in the face or hair (like that young woman that used it for hair gel a few months ago).maybe I should sue Gorilla glue like she was going to? Perhaps, a class action deal? hahahaaa

anyway, here's the damn pic...not posting a pic of my kitchen window!

Was it worth it? NOPE!

Lol. Died laughing.

Also just did that 26th thing here also. Congrats.

Moved an air compressor (about 500#) out of a neighbors garage, and put it outside in a new location for him. On a pallet, so it was an easy move. Got home and got a call from him - wanted to remove it from the pallet and put it on the base he'd built outside. Back over, picked up the compressor with the pallet forks, he removed the pallet, and we put the compressor on the newly built base.

Loaned out my L245 to my brother as his BX is physically too small for the sicklemower he just bought. Then he broke the sickle mower.

Even MOAR ROCKS! Including a big one that is going to eventually be propped upright as a corner stone on my driveway expansion rock wall.

Then maple creemees for the hard working puppy dog and of course his dinner!

The guys were happy when they saw a little Kubota backhoe at the jobsite yesterday. A scheduled "hand dig" in 90 degree temps and high humidity was no longer going to be a dreadful day (or, much improved anyway).

It's funny how some people think these little backhoes are useless. Try digging this by hand...I'll watch.

Went to the farm and mowed. Watched a fawn run from one area to the next. Decided we need to get things cutback before the weekend since the old weatherman is saying we have a couple inches of needed rain coming.

3/4 mile road grade with 60 yards of processed gravel for a couple of the bad spots thrown in for good measure. A long day. Box Blade, Rake and Roll.

The mod to the box blade has been fantastic and I use it on-the-fly constantly.

My neighbor has this old walk behind plow she wanted re-motored.
She uses it to loosen up the horse arena sand when it get's packed down.

It had a really old Brigg's & Stratton on it....but with the price of small engines in the $200 range, replacing the motor was the best option.

The first motor imploded after only 20 minutes use at the most.....piston rod cap broke in two....pic's below.

Now I have this Predator motor on it....so far, so good! I added a little weight to the back 20210618_185041[1].jpg 20210621_170424[1].jpg 20210624_111020[1].jpg to offset the motor.

Trail/road clearing getting everything ready for the 4th. My Son, 2 Grandsons, and I. We had the Kubota M4900, the Kubota U25 excavator, and the ole JD 1530.
IMG_0251.JPG

I had many trees down across the openings and also across one of my bridges.
IMG_0253.JPG

It broke a few bridge decking boards and made a general mess. the U25 was very handy reaching what we never could have reached.
IMG_0250.JPG

Just a mess.
IMG_0249.JPG

But we got-r-done.
IMG_0248.JPG

And then put in a water bar to divert some water and prevent erosion. It was a very good day spent with my Son and 2 Grandsons.

I repowered an old Troy-Bilt Horse Tiller with one of those little Predator engines. Pretty sweet little engine, really. It came with a fuel shut-off valve, which I think EVERY small engine should have, if for no other purpose but to run the carb dry before storing the equipment. It's how I've done my retrofit since I put it on the old Horse, and it still cranks on the first pull three years later.

Turning the fuel off and letting the motor burn up what's left in the line/carb is exactly what I do....and with the fuel treatment (Sta-Bil) when it's getting put away for a while......Good Stuff!

Good to hear about the Predator engine.....ya know, I took the Xtreme engine apart to see what failed, and it's almost identical to the Predator in build, even the QC markings are the same.....and, of course, the "Made In China" sticker :-/

Another broken house trap replacement. Very likely there will be many more at this location. KX033 pulled out a huge bolder and loaded it on the truck without hesitation. That machine is a little beast. The only negative I see thus far is that it doesn't have as much reach as it would appear. Other than than, great little machine.

Not much reach...you're not trying to say it didn't reach under the foundation, around a corner and dig down are ya ? :)

That looks like a tight fit with the landscaping.....Good Job!

I'll be adding a piece of equipment like that in the future....recommend the KX033?

And 4 hrs later it is spread. Now to let the weather beat it down for 10-12 months. I’ll level it out with the harrow before I start building next year.

Yes. Great machine. I suppose if you needed more reach you could get the long stick version. So far so good with it but it still has under 50 hours on it. Easily handles buckets from 12"-36".

Didn’t put a lot of hours on the L today but had a variety of short jobs. First up, this rotten at the bottom maple tree fell
E80092D9-F140-4C5C-8614-920F7D27CDBD.jpeg

with the top across this trail in the creek bottom.
170C9232-5E74-4FB1-9E0A-AA2D33D36B8E.jpeg
The simplest, least disruptive resolution we could come up with, shove it off the stump with the grapple and skid the whole thing in one piece back into the woods. Tractor didn’t fit in the woods but a snatch block chained to a tree and a bit of simple rigging fixed the direction of pull issue.
913C1AD5-8EB1-4CEA-8DBC-9CF45DA01B29.jpeg

So job one complete. (Note revised position of stump v tree.)
74CDBB9C-222A-4CFA-B486-DF8E1B10B43E.jpeg

Trail at bottom of hill now clear after one pass with the grapple to clean up the scraps.
6E33B39B-6FA6-40F4-9129-A60A37C3401A.jpeg

Next, redirected a nearby ditch that’s fed by a small spring and has recently decided to change course to an inconvenient path that turns one of my Dad’s preferred hunting spots into a nearly impassable mud hole. Forgot to take an after pic and the before was just a pathetic representation so sorry, no pics. Tilted the box scrape off to one side and redirected it to its original course. As an aside, slated to have hydraulic top and side link and associated valves installed this week. I was starting to feel a bit guilty about spending the money on rear hydraulics… until I did this piddling little project which would have taken maybe 20 minutes with hydraulic 3 point but took more like 50 minutes because as simple as it was, it required numerous setup changes. Had been putting it off pending hydraulic 3 point but I was there, the tractor was there, the ditch was there, and I had 50 minutes to do a 20 minute job. Now I don’t feel quite as guilty.

Then back up the steep hill home (as usual, however steep it looks in photos or video, multiply by 1.5 to 2 for reality.)
1E6C96E3-8B00-4929-ACCB-505DFEF36ACA.jpeg

Fun with the pole saw today back on the pseudo-civilized part of the property. Pruned around our house, Dad’s house, and along the private road. Wife made about a dozen neat little piles as I cut and we discussed and decided what needed pruning. We’ve done that enough now it’s pretty efficient and she’s good at making the piles with everything oriented for easy grappling.
4E4EFA3B-0663-41B9-A001-99196009C615.jpeg

Almost feels like I’m cheating at something riding around picking up brush without even getting off the machine. Wife has gotten pretty good at this, too but she had been working as well and was ready for a break. Piling it up to chip later when the pile is built up again.
17C19D3A-B056-44D3-B2EC-0B4D10D13095.jpeg

Final job for the day was a bit unique, at least for us. Found this old drop in oven out in the woods a while back. Half full of dirt, very rusty, embraced by a tangle of roots. Not sure how we would have dug it out without some sort of equipment. Grapple had no problem wrestling the old oven from the grip of the earth. We’ll be taking it to a real dump rather than “the hole down in the holler” which was at one time the dump for most rural people in this area when I was a kid.

I performed the 100 hour maintenance on my L2501. Once it was done and no leaks detected it went back into service mowing the trails and some of the fields.
